Comments about MXL V88 Low-Noise Recording and Broadcast Condenser Microphone:
Use with a DAW through Roland Quad Capture Audio interface in my home studio. Use mainly for vocals. I have only had a chance to test the Mic a few times but so far great sounding Mic for the money. Clear, crisp and good low end.

Comments about MXL V88 Low-Noise Recording and Broadcast Condenser Microphone:
I needed an extra room mic to record drums and after some quick research online I decided to try this baby out. I wasn't going to need anything amazing sounding so I figured this would do. Man, this thing sounds SO good, I'm now using it on everything from vocals to cello and acoustic guitar. A PAD switch is the only thing that's missing when you put it close to a loud source, but hey, at [$] we can't possibly complain! A must-have.

Comments about MXL V88 Low-Noise Recording and Broadcast Condenser Microphone:
I was talking to a voice talent, like myself, that takes this mic when he travels. I recorded him via ISDN on his Neumann (not the U87), and on the V88. After an A/B comparison, I found that the only difference was the punch in the low end of the Neumann. I was able to match up his studio read, done with the Neumann, with his read from Hawaii with the V88.
For the sound of my voice, the V88 is perfect. I have 2 Oktavas that rival AT4050s, and now an MXL V88 that can hold its own in the voiceover world. I'm using it for my in studio VO mic now.

Comments about MXL V88 Low-Noise Recording and Broadcast Condenser Microphone:
I had previously used dynamic mics to record - e.g Sure sm38, and thought the sound was OK - but when i plugged this thing in & turned on the phantom power, it was like an entirely new realm of sound openned up - i use it for recording vocals & also some acoustic guitar - it picks up everything - which is why it's so important to have the shockmount. I will never go back to the old dynamic mics for recording.

Comments about MXL V88 Low-Noise Recording and Broadcast Condenser Microphone:
I purchased this microphone because I just recently got interested in music production. I've been producing fun beats for the past 2 years, but I haven't had anything to record vocals with (with the exception of RockBand microphones). I talked to a friend (WAY more experienced than I was in this area) about purchasing condenser mics and he suggested I take a look at some of the MXL mics. He said he used to use them and that the quality was surprising for how cheap they were. I second this opinion. This a huge improvement (from using a RockBand mic) and the quality is astonishing. This microphone wins price and all, hands down. It was extremely easy to use and I had my whole setup up and running in less than 15 mins. This thing wins 5*, without a doubt.

Received the microphone about a week ago and have been extremely happy with it. The build quality is solid and the attractive appearance of it is just icing on the cake. Recorded sound is very clear with very little noise. At less than $150, you can't go wrong; highly recommended!

Comments about MXL V88 Low-Noise Recording and Broadcast Condenser Microphone:
I was concerned about the quality of the V88 due to the low price in comparison to some other condenser mics. I read various reviews from different sources and did not find anything to deter me from trying one out. I use it in my home studio and am very pleased with it. I am ordering a second one right away! I don't have any cons to list at this point, and really don't foresee any taking the price and versatility of MXL V88 into account.

Comments about MXL V88 Low-Noise Recording and Broadcast Condenser Microphone:
Audio recording and broadcast sound, they cover a lot of ground; shock mounts look like they will last a while, too. I got such a good price here, I got two and I'm glad of it.
Just remember to price out the Mogami Gold mic cables while you're at it, they're worth the money if you can take care of them.

Comments about MXL V88 Low-Noise Recording and Broadcast Condenser Microphone:
I use it in home studio. There no nose at all. The mic catches everything even from the other room, so I think about some kind of cabin for recording vocal. I add insurance for 2 years, but never used it before.
