Comments about Seagate 1TB FreeAgent Desk External Hard Drive:
I am a real photography buff and use an old laptop, easy to figure I don't have enough drive space. I've moved all my photos to the new drive and will consolidate discs to it there also when I get the chance and everything will be in one place when I need to find it (I'm one of my Church's photographers thus the "need" to find something).
I don't have anything to say about it that would be in the "not so great" category - only good.

Comments about Seagate 1TB FreeAgent Desk External Hard Drive:
I use the product to back up and store my home movies that I made from my Sony camcorder tapes. I have about 500 GBs of home movies, so I need a fast drive and plenty of storage space. I was able to copy about 1 GB per minute or 10 GB in 10 minutes. Recently I returned a major competitor's external drive because it took 3 hours to copy 10 GB. I thought it was defective so I returned it. As many Seagate users write, the drive needs an on/off button, and that is missing. Seagate needs to read its reviews and restore an on/off button. I own 3 Seagate external drives and have found Seagate's customer service department easy to contact.

I have been using this drive only for a little while but so far it has been great. It is a good price for 1TB and the 5 year warranty is a great bonus.

Comments about Seagate 1TB FreeAgent Desk External Hard Drive:
I use the product to store photos and video clips, which I edit with Lightroom and Sony Vegas. The product was very easy to install and is working very smoothly thus far. I'm new at video editing, and my requirements are modest, so I'm not bumping up against any product limitations at this point. This is also the first external hard drive that I've used for anything other than backing up, so I don't have much to compare it to. So far, so good.

Comments about Seagate 1TB FreeAgent Desk External Hard Drive:
I used this little hard drive to back up both of my laptops because they were running low on space (filling quickly with RAW images) and it has proven to be well worth the expense. I'm no longer paranoid about accidentally losing info on either computer. Setup was easy and syncing was fairly quick considering the size of the HDs. The vertical stand option is also a nice space saver. One terabyte is plenty for me and the ample warranty was a strong selling point too. Overall, I'd buy it again.

Comments about Seagate 1TB FreeAgent Desk External Hard Drive:
This drive was purchased as a Time Machine drive for a MacBook Pro. After formatting for Apple OS it has been failure free and performs multiple backups of the laptop it is associated with. Purchased this drive because of past positive experiences with other Seagate FreeAgent drives. Have found no drawbacks for this particular USB drive.

I was very pleased to discover how easy it was to prepare this drive for my Mac when it was packaged for PC; its manual plainly pointed to step-by-step instructions online. 1t for less than $100 makes video archiving within reach for a semi-pro like me.

Comments about Seagate 1TB FreeAgent Desk External Hard Drive:
Have used this new drive to backup a desktop, a laptop, network drive and network server, as well as a Seagate go drive. It performs as it should, and powers down to standby when not in use. Seems to be a solid drive and has worked flawlessly so far. The software is really not great, but I don't use it anyway. It is not needed as you just plug the drive in and it appears in "my computer" and you just "drag and drop" files. Simple and efficient.

Comments about Seagate 1TB FreeAgent Desk External Hard Drive:
On Win-7 you might need to manually assign a drive letter before the drive is accessible; but then it works beautifully... Has no power switch, but I don't see any need for one. Unplug it from the USB & it automatically shuts down.

Comments about Seagate 1TB FreeAgent Desk External Hard Drive:
This drive can be used with multiple partitions FAT, FAT32, NTFS, WBFS, Linux etc. Very hand and sleek, tends to get a tad hot if you run it for long periods of time, could use better heat-sink or way to cool down internal drive. Otherwise not bad drive considering the warranty. Just make sure you backup this drive and do not rely on it AS your backup source. Seagate has costly data restore methods.

I always liked Seagate and look for their products because I've used them before and they've been reliable up to now. I don't plan on getting any other brand of hard drives other than a seagate.
