The 500GB FreeAgent Go for Mac Portable Hard Drive from Seagate is a portable hard drive in a stylish housing that makes it great for use with laptop computers. The case features a stunning patterned LED activity light display; these lights appear to "breathe" when the drive is active.
The drive features an interface that allows it to be connected and powered by FireWire-800 or USB 2.0, a rotation speed of 5400rpm, and bus transfer rates of up to 100MB/sec. It is an excellent storage solution for users who are on the move.

I bought this portable harddrive for my new Macbook Pro to use as a backup with "time machine". Not only did it work flawlessly BUT my Mac crashed recently while I was overseas. BUT, no sweat; everything was backed up in entirety, up to the minute and completely restorable from this new little gem of a harddrive.

As a lighting design for stage, I needed something to backup all my large photoshop files, as well as my photos, documents, etc. This product not only helped me through a transfer of files from a windows machine to my new macbook pro, but did it extremely fast! I would even recommend this drive to be be purchased by windows users and reformatted for they're machine so they can reap the benefits of firewire 800 AND USB 2.0. The drive also lights up when in use so you know it is connected. I am very satisfied with my purchase.

I got this for my iMac. It is so amazingly simple to use with Mac's Time Machine backup \ restore software. It is super quiet and a great design. It also can be use with multiple Mac machines and it will perfectly back up these machines within their own folders.
