The Datacolor Spyder3TV Color Calibration System is an easy-to-use calibration system for your home theater display as well as any other TV in your home, and is intended for use by home theater enthusiasts, or system installers. It provides the correct adjustments to brightness, contrast, color, tint and color temperature for your display so you'll see your favorite movies exactly as they were intended. Furthermore, a properly calibrated display can save energy and extend the life of your home theatre display by ensuring that brightness and contrast settings are optimized (an overly bright and contrasty display uses more power and can lead to a shorter display life -especially for plasma displays)

What more needs to be said? And not even functional with Windows 2000 anyway. Starting up, the application complains about the serial number not being valid and that the whole thing needs to be reinstalled--but the installer never asks for a serial number. Useless.

Finding an accurate color temp, brightness, contrast, tint and color settings can be a chore.
The Spyder3 was usefull in providing basics required to properly calibrate a TV to existing room conditions. I was able to quickly produce a much cleaner image with details in the shadows, adequate punch, accurate black levels and colors.
I would recommend it to any home user looking to improve picture quality on their respective TVs.
More accurate results could be had with more expensive equipment but for the price point the results were more than satisfactory.

This product took some time (50-65 minutes) on the first TV, but was a breeze on the rest of our HDTVs. Took the guess work out of trying to calibrate. Pictures never look so good. Would recommend for any users! Thanks for a great product!

I bought this to calibrate my Samsung 52" 1080P HD LCD television. Install was simple, instructions were clear. Every time I tried to use the calibration the software crashed at some point and advised it was sending an error report. Have not been able to complete a single calilbratgion attempt. I don't know if Datacolor responds to error reports or not but haven't heard from them as yet. One other comment, as I bougth this and Spyder3Pro for my computers, it would have been helpful to know that both use the same device that attaches to the screen. Then I would have looked to see if software only was available from Datacolor. Now I have two of the screen attachment devices. I guess it's helpful to have a backup????
