The battery supplied with the XA10 is just about enough for about an hour of filming. I can film for about 4 hours with this battery.

I used it during a 6-hour event in a Canon Vixia HF M400. I recorded over 5 hours of video and the battery was still going.

Long battery life, when newly charged camera display indicates 6+ hours of life. I shot about 1.5 hours of video while on a week long cruise, and I did not have to charge the battery once. I think I had about 2.5 hours charge time left, which is good considering I turned camera on and off a lot and used playback quite a bit. Very happy with battery performance, but it is quite a bit larger than I would like; it sticks out 1/2" too far from the back of my Canon Vixia HFM41 camera, making it hard to get my eye close enough to the viewfinder. The bit of awkwardness is something I can live with. If I were to do it again, I would choose the next size battery down which would hopefully fit flush to the end of the camera body better. If your camera doesn't have a viewfinder, this is an excellent choice. Other overseas copycat batteries are much cheaper, but the Canon intelligent (copy protected?) battery interface can cause severe compatibility problems. (My brother had this issue with his Canon camera.) I'm happy I spent more to get a good quality battery! Only 4 Stars due to size issue.

Lasts MUCH MUCH longer than the original battery. I think I got 271 minutes as opposed to the original 90. Was awesome!

To bad this battery didn't come with the camera. I have used this in many shoots. 5+ hours without the worry of missing (that one shot). The battery is bigger, but it also helps balance out the camera better. The only thing I can say bad about this battery...is that it spoils you, You'll want to buy another one..

Bought this battery to use with the Canon XA10. With this one battery, you can shoot pretty much all day without worry. Definitely a must buy and probably should have been included in the original XA10 package.

On that note, if you pick up the battery, the charger is also a must --- then you don't need the camera to recharge it.

I just got an xa10 to compliment my dslr video shooting. This battery really rocks. It lasted for the whole wedding reception. I wish it would be a little less expensive but you pay for the convience. I will definitely get another one and I am pretty much set for a full day event.

The charge time from the camcorder takes forever.

This battery is an expensive upgrade to a camera I only paid $350 for, but it was well worth the investment. HD Quality requires HD size batteries "Bigger" My camera says it can run for 5 hours with this monster. Even though it is big, it does not really seem to bother me while its connected. It sits out of the way from the rest of the camera controls.

EXPENSIVE!, but a necessity.

Do not buy cheep knock offs of this product, this is an authentic Canon product marked by the hologram sticker in the upper left of the packaging. I have bought cheep versions of this battery which last 45min tops. I purchased two of these batteries, and I'm kicking my self for not buying these in the first place.

When it comes to buying extended or replacement batteries, only buy authentic original manufacturer products. DO NOT GO CHEEP OR YOU WILL PAY DEARLY WHEN YOU NEED IT MOST.

Excellent addition to the Canon XA10. I'm using it with the XA10's LCD on almost constantly and about 1/2 the time with a powered XLR mic (Azden), and the camera still seems to run forever.

*BTW I initially bought two of these, one for backup while the other one charging, but so far haven't needed to use the backup 827 yet.

Bought this battery because the one supplied with the camera is good for about 70 minutes. This one is good for 300 minutes.

This battery is great. It lasts for a very long time on a single charge so I can keep going and going. It is a little bit expensive but it is 100% worth the money.

The big enchilada of Canon camcorder batteries.

Pros: 3x the capacity of the standard BP-808. 2+ hours of real world use or almost 3 hours if you just hit record and walk away. Does not protrude past the viewfinder, so you can use the EVF without the battery whacking your face. Once you cycle the battery a couple of times the camera "learns" it's capacity and displays a fairly accurate capacity indication.

Cons:
Size and weight, which is just part of the deal. Also, due to its capacity it takes 3x as long to charge as the BP-808. Such is life.
