An extra battery is a must, why I'm very dissapointed that it wasn't possible to buy only a battery.
The leather case is big and clumpsy, so I thought it would have some extra space. But put a memory card in each of the two little pockets (which they are designed for), and an extra battery in the bigger pocket and you'll have a hard time closing the case.
I only use mine for storing the camera at home, since it's too big to bring out.
You can do better Olympus. A case for at compact camera should be compact.
The LCD cleaning cloth is nice to have, but is it really necessary? Either way, it should come with the camera, and not be something you pay extra for.

I never have to worry about being short on power when you're out on a hike. The cheap ones just don't hold a charge as well as these do! It's worth the extra bucks as you won't be disappointed later!

I purchased an Olympus 610 camera and took it out to West Texas to photograph the area. I used the camera along the way but didn't leave it on the whole time. 2 1/2 hours and approx 6 miles and the halfway point of the hike, I found a beautiful photo op and reached for my new camera. The battery was dead. Ugh! The views I missed still crush me. Upon my return home, I immediately purchased two more batteries so I'd have back ups for the next trip. I hope I am not stranded with a camera and no power ever again.

Our camera use requires a strong battery with a high mAh. These have proven to be a good reliable battery but pricey. We have these in use in 40+ cameras and take hundreds of images daily per camera w/flash and require a battery that will last an 8 hour shift. We have not had any out of the box failures.

I bought the spare battery so that I never have to miss a shot due to a dead battery. Very convenient while travelling. When one battery dies I just put in the recharged battery and then put the dead on in the charger.

I tried to save a few bucks by getting a "non-Olympus" back up battery for our Olympus PhotoStylus (great bang-around, can't get damaged by anything, underwater photo camera). The generic battery died with in a year. So I went back to the tried and true Olympus. Came in 2 days and charged up in 2 hours. Back to business
