StarBoard Software - Release 8.0 from Hitachi is a feature-rich software package for use with the StarBoard family of interactive devices. Release 7.1 add Deferred Handwriting Recognition to convert pen data to a text object, TWAIN support to allow for the import image via TWAIN device such as scanners, MSI installers, and improved projector control feature that allow users to control the Hitachi projector on a network (using PJman software control), enabling user to power the projector on or off, as well as switch input mode.
All of the functions of the StarBoard Software are easily accessible with a user-friendly arrangement of pull down menus that requires less than three mouse clicks to get to any particular function, and any function can be made one button accessible by simply dragging the menu item to the on screen toolbar. Plus personal videoconferencing is added to StarBoard's inherent data conferencing through support of the IEEE H.323 standard. Adding any web cam and microphone allows two StarBoard systems to hold videoconferencing
.
Three different pen types can all be interchangeably used in giving a presentation: the standard annotation pen, the Intelli-pen which converts freehand geometric objects to drafted objects, and a Laser-ink pen which provides temporary annotations and highlights with any ink type. Annotations can also be made over running video or animations with web pages or PowerPoint presentations, and StarBoard sessions can move between "annotation mode" and "mouse mode" freely without losing annotations or any requirement to save data.
