Not really. But if you gaff on sets or are a one man band DP, this is a must for shooting INTS and especially EXTS! For the price, you can't go wrong. Especially useful when working with big lights that are backed far off from the subject.

yeah it's tough to see some other things (like clouds) through this HEAVY HEAVY ND filter, but man does it save your eyesight.

i'll never use another gaffer glass again.

Excellent product I bought 4 so my lighting crew could all have one. They do exactly as they say they will and the large size makes using it a breeze. Only issue is the green colour shift but that is a personal thing and doesn't affect what it does.

Using the gaffers glass has worked great in definining and adjusting contrast on those very sunny days when filming outdoors, or inside with lights blasting through windows, its everything I expected it to be.

Professional gaffer's loop. Till now I had to get by with color contrast viewing loops. But with this one you can look directly at the sun (waiting for that stubborn cloud to clear!) and bulbs, lamps for as long as you want!
Would be great if they could include a pouch (as other loops do). The plastic case that comes in stays at home, too big for my pockets or set bag!

The Blue Ring Gaffer's Glass is used for looking towards the sun to check cloud cover, or looking into lights for focusing and checking lenses. I'm really impressed with the Blue Ring. It's larger than I expected and it has a deep set ring that cups over your eye to block out unwanted light. It's also very durable. Every time I pulled it out on the last shoot I worked on, the other crew members wanted to look at it and through it. If this happens to you, make sure you take it off your neck first or it gets awkward!

This is an essential tool for the professional Gaffer or Cinematographer. It has a large eye cup and the glass element is a great size for focusing your lamps. The handle is a good length and can be gripped easily. Beefy, but not heavy and very sturdy.

Very well built, is a must have tool for focusing large lighting fixtures or to determine the sun position during outdoors shootings. Because it is a lot darker, is NOT a color contrast viewing filter replacement.
