The dedicated Pearstone LHC-ET60 Lens Hood is specifically designed for use with Canon's EF 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 USM, II, II USM, III & III USM Lenses.
Lens hoods are primarily designed to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens, by extending and shading the end of the lens. A dedicated lens hood is designed to perfectly match the specific focal length of the lens it was designed for. In addition, since the end of the lens is extended, you also get the added benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact.

I use this product with the Canon 55-250mm IS lens, and I have never had a problem with the hood. There is no reason to shell out more money for the same piece of plastic with the Canon name printed on it. If you're looking for a nice hood and don't care about advertising the Canon name on every single piece of your gear, save a few bucks and buy this model.

If you, like I do, use your long focal length lenses for outdoor shooting, this item is a no-brainer. I bought this over the Canon version of the same product and saved about $10 in doing so I have had no problems with the product and it has served me and my Canon Rebel T3i well. You can flip the lens shade around for storage on the lens itself when not in use.

I bought this for my Cannon 50-250mm kit lens. Under normal circumstances I would have payed the extra for a Canon hood, but for a kit lens I decided to try my luck with Pearstone.
I bought this with the EW-60C for my 18-55mm lens. While the EW-60C fits a bit snug, this one fits great.
