The dedicated Pearstone LHN-HB35 Lens Hood is a lens hood specifically designed for use with Nikon's 18-200mm AF-S Lens.
Lens hoods are primarily designed to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens, by extending and shading the end of the lens. A dedicated lens hood is designed to perfectly match the specific focal length of the lens it was designed for. In addition, since the end of the lens is extended, you also get the added benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact.
The "petal" shape of this lens hood maximizes the amount of hood coverage for the minimum amount of weight and hood area.

Comments about Pearstone LHN-HB35 Dedicated Lens Hood (HB-35):
This is merely a lens hood. The one that came with the original lens, (18-200), fitted loosely, and was lost easily. The replacement, A Nikon original for $, was also lost in the same way. Both were poorly made, and an outrageous rip off. The one I got from B&H fits much better, for a much lower price. I have rarely been so disappointet in a Nikon product.

Comments about Pearstone LHN-HB35 Dedicated Lens Hood (HB-35):
My original Nikon HB35 was always loose and eventually rolled down a mountainside. This one clicks in place in both forward and backward mode. Another reviewer noted slight vignetting at full wide angle, but I did not.

The Pearstone hood fits well, stays in place during typical camera use, does not cause vignetting, and costs less than the Nikon hood it replaces. It even looks good.

The lens hood is a replacement for a Nikon hood that got knocked off somewhere i Chico CA. This hood is identical to the Nikon hood except for the text written on it. It seems to fit the threaded front of the lens a bit tighter than the original.

Thought I could live without a lens hood for my Nikkor 18-200 Zoom. I couldn't! Great replacement lens hood. Does what one would expect of a well made hood. However, at times it is hard to line up to attach.

This lenshood replaces the original Nikon Lenshood for the Nikon 18-200VR lens. It looks exactly the same and it works the same; just as good for half the price!

I use this on a Nikkor 18-200mm VR lens as a replacement for the original. It fits much more securely than the original. I don't notice it in the frame, at 18mm it might just barely barely be noticible to a more observant shooter.

Comments about Pearstone LHN-HB35 Dedicated Lens Hood (HB-35):
I use a lens hood all the time. Forturnately is was on my camera last photo trip. I was riding on a train. My camera was securely packed in its Lowe camera bag. While walking down the aisle another passenger bumped the camera and it fell to the floor. The fall broke my lens hood, but the lens hood saved the camera from damage. I replaced the lens hood as quickly as possible, and will continue to us a lens hood all the time.

I lost the one that came with the lens. This one works great. I was a little concerned with the sides being narrower.

Comments about Pearstone LHN-HB35 Dedicated Lens Hood (HB-35):
After having two of the Nikon HB-35 hoods crack, I decided to try this less expensive alternative and order a couple so that I would always have a spare. Although it looked slightly larger than the Nikon version, the hood fits the camera well and does not vignette the images when at the short end of my 18-200mm lens.
