The Westcott Window Three Light Plus Kit 2100 is based on the Spiderlite TD5 and TD3 light fixtures, which accept fluorescent (5000° K) or tungsten (3200° K) bulbs, or screw-in strobes. Although this kit is rated at 530 total fluorescent watts, it puts out the equivalent of 2100 watts tungsten, according to Westcott.
Three separate controls on the TD5's allow running of multiple combinations of bulbs together with no color shift.
The TD3 accepts three 50 watt halogen (available separately) , or three 27 watt fluorescent bulbs. It can also run two optional screw-in AC stobes with one modeling light. It is also capable of running on DC power with an optional inverter and battery. Each fixture in this three light kit has all-metal construction with built-in points for direct attachment of a softbox -- no adapter ring is necessary.
This Three Light Kit includes two 24 x 32" and one 12 x 36" silver interior softboxes, tilt brackets, 50, 30 watt and 20 watt screw-in fluorescent bulbs, three 10' heavy duty light stands, a boom arm with counterweight, and a deluxe wheeled case for storage and transport.

Comments about Westcott Window Light Three Light Kit Plus 2100 (120VAC):
When this package arrived I needed some serious muscle to haul it up to the third floor of my apartment complex. I thought the case with wheels was going to make this easy to hual, but I was wrong. Not on stairs, anyway. I'm going on about this case because it's the only thing I can really pick at and that drives me nuts. Everything else is absolutely terrific. Great quality parts and easy to set up. On my first gig I got wonderful compliments for the professionalism of the set up and the quality that it produced. Can't beat the overhead lamp. But, this case! I have to tell you, it is designed with a two compartments, the stands and heavy stuff on the bottom, and the bulbs and fixtures on the top. They are separated by zipper compartments. My main problem with it is that it doesn't let you separate the two compartments. I would love for them to design this better next time. As is, it's easier for me to buy two separate cases and manuever them that way. Not everyone's going to have this problem, but like I said, it's a great deal otherwise!

This seems like a quality set up be we decided it was too large for easy mobility and interview set ups in small spaces. Feels quality and should work for someone with a studio set up.

Comments about Westcott Window Light Three Light Kit Plus 2100 (120VAC):
I purchased this light kit for video and photography use. The primary function is to light a small studio set for video. The lights are not as bright as I would have hoped, but they are about what I expected. They put out almost no heat, and are great for headshots where you want your subject really close to the soft box. If they are within 3' of subject at ISO 100 f5.6 = 1/60th. They are great lights for 1-3 people, but I wouldn't suggest trying to shoot a large family portrait, especially if you have small children that won't sit still. The soft boxes and heads seem very durable. The stands are lightweight, and want to sway when extended above 5'. You will definitely want to use sandbags or weights. The boom also sags when it is extended, and the counterweight seems like it needs more weight added. The travel case is great, just make sure to keep all of the packing material that comes with it, as you will want to add it when repacking. Overall I am satisfied with this kit, but you'll want strobes too if you are shooting moving subjects. Hope this helps!!

Comments about Westcott Window Light Three Light Kit Plus 2100 (120VAC):
The Westcott delivers everything it promises: consistent, high quality light and easy soft box set up. I think I am a relatively smart guy, but instructions for the boom stand and the speed ring for the TD3 would have been extremely helpful.
While I have heard constant light is not good for children because of the slower shutter speeds, I found the TD5s great because the kids were not startled by a strobe going off.
Great kit, great case. Be careful though as it is pretty heavy at 74 lbs.

Comments about Westcott Window Light Three Light Kit Plus 2100 (120VAC):
I am serious amateur and love the ease with which you can get professional quality results with these lights. By using the cool, daylight balanced fluorescent bulbs, you see what the results will be as you're adjusting the lights. The softboxes are easy to assemble and provide a beautiful soft light with very good control. I added the egg crate grid for the strip bank light and now have a setup that's great for portraits, still life, product photography and even video.

Comments about Westcott Window Light Three Light Kit Plus 2100 (120VAC):
Literally a portrait studio in a box. This was everything I needed to start taking beautiful portraits right out of the box. The quality is superb and it all packs away into a nice, sturdy case. My first shots were so spectacular I ordered a background support, a couple of painted muslins, and later added a reflector and stand. Westcott quality is excellent. Monte Zucker wasn't wrong when he recommended this setup. I also have his DVD on studio lighting which helped me tremendously.
