Comments about DVDO Edge:
I thought my Samsung plasma did a great job of scaling and de-interlacing my various video sources but once I hooked up the Edge I realized that was not the case, this was confirmed with calibration discs as well as source material. Beyond the video improvement the Edge has many other benefits such as auto input switching which is wonderful. Since my hd-dvr always outputs a signal even when off, I put that as the lowest priority so when I power on any other component the Edge will automatically switch to that input, its great. I run one HDMI cable to my display and one to the receiver, one major benefit I now enjoy is NO lip synchronization issues which I was continually dealing with when I routed everything through the receiver. Speaking of the receiver, if you're looking at upgrading that, I would definitely recommend spending your money on the audio side and put the savings on the video side towards the Edge, it's really a no brainer. While improving video quality is what I consider the primary reason for getting the Edge, the ability to combine audio/video sources seamlessly is great as well. The only negative I can think of is you have to use the remote for everything as there is no front panel. Lastly, make sure you update the firmware from the mfg to the latest available. [...]

Comments about DVDO Edge:
This is an awesome device! The highest praise I can give it is that I loved the first one I bought so much that I bought a 2nd unit! I originally bought this because I upgraded my video equipment (to a 1080 screen, Blu-Ray, HD cable), but my existing receiver -- which I had previously used as a switcher of my various video components -- had no HDMI input or output. However, its audio quality was excellent and I didn't want to replace it. The EDGE solved that problem: it became my new video switcher, which takes all my video components and upconverts them to HDMI. The HDMI video goes to my projection TV, and the EDGE sends the audio to my receiver via optical output. The video processing is superb, and it makes EVERYTHING look better, from VHS tapes, to standard DVDs and even native HDMI sources. The customization is practically limitless, and allows a huge variety of color adjustments, contrast, sharpness, and even zooming. There's an audio delay adjustment in case you have any sync issues, and there are adjustments for video games, to ensure that the slight delay caused by its video processing doesn't affect gameplay. It's easy to set up and the menus and controls are pretty intuitive. In short, it absolutely does everything it claims, and at a very reasonable price. This is a WAY better investment than buying a new tuner. I bought a 2nd unit because it made everything look so great on one of my setups that I had to upgrade the other one! Note - if you don't have an HD TV with an HDMI input, this product will be useless to you.

Comments about DVDO Edge:
Process multiple inputs: s-video, component, HDMI.
Thinks I like: the many ways of changing aspect ratio, separate h/v zoom, audio options, etc.
What I don't like: it tanked after a week of use. It was the central brain of my system. Had to send it back for a replacement. On the AVS forum, there are many complaints about reliability. Be aware that if you purchase this, you may have reliability problems. If it actually works, and continues to work, it will be fine. They haven't worked out all the software/hardware issues yet.

Comments about DVDO Edge:
Overall I'm satisfied with this product. The quality is very nice for the price range. Up-scaling SD to 720P does not make any difference in the picture quality with some other professional video processor such as Folsom. One drawback is that you can't change the setting without connecting to a monitor.

Comments about DVDO Edge:
Finally a scaler from DVDO (Anchor Bay) that is a easy to use and set up product. Works as a video scaler, picture enhancement (noise reduction, image sharpeing effects etc), AV Hub (lots of HDMI's + other connections in, 1 hdmi (video+audio) + 1 hdmi audio out).
It's also quite affordable. I also own a DVDO VP50 that's like 3-4x the price of this unit, and they basically do the same only the EDGE is FAR easier to set up.
All in all a highly recommended product if you own a large plasma or lcd display (40"+) or a projector.
