The Canon PowerShot SX110 IS Digital Camera (Silver) features an incredible 10x optical zoom capability with optical image stabilization and a superb 9.0 megapixel resolution in a compact point-and-shoot camera body that has a modern-looking and elegant form. The camera's advanced DIGIC III Image Processor assures that your images will always look incredible, regardless of the particular shooting conditions. In addition, Advanced Face Detection Technology automatically sets focus, exposure, flash and white balance for beautiful portraits and group shots.
The camera's 10x zoom lens provides a focal length range 36-360mm in 35mm terms, providing the user with the ability to capture a broad range of subjects from landscape and sunset images to birding photos, to action sports - shooting all the way from the stands. Plus, the optical image stabilization system helps reduce camera shake, and High ISO Auto which takes into account the subject's movement, further helps to provide crisp and clear images regardless of how far the zoom extends.
Surprisingly, such a capable camera is also easy to use. It features an Easy Mode, which limits camera functions to the basics for simplified operation, creating ease-of-use for even the most entry-level camera owner. Additionally, the camera is equipped with PictBridge and Canon Direct Print functions, enabling consumers to print photos anywhere. Furthermore, the camera's 3-inch LCD screen and easy-to-use control dial make capturing and viewing images seamless, and all of this is powered by two AA batteries, which are available anywhere so a shot is never missed due to a depleted battery.

Overall, it's a relly good camera. The zoom is amazing. Not only is it long (360mm!), but the picture comes out clear. The first time I used it was at a concert and I was about 1/2 way up the theater and got really good quality shots even in low light.
Face detection is helpful, as are all the different settings. It's like having a pocket XTi! The colors are vivid and sharp and the camera feels natural in my hands. The LCD screen is HUGE!
On the downside, this camera is heavier than "normal" point & shoots and having to remember to manually lift the flash can get annoying (you even have to lift it when it's set to Auto Flash). Some reviews below said that the flash takes 10+ seconds to re-power, but it's more like 4-5 seconds for me (perhaps it has to do with the type of battery used?). The camera casing feels cheap, but shouldn't be an issue if you treat it properly. Like I wrote, these are drawbacks, but not necessarily dealbreakers.
If you're looking for something that's more advanced than a P&S, but you're not quite ready for a dSLR, then this is a good camera for you. I take this camera when I want quality pictures, but don't want to drag around my Rebel.

I bought this mostly for my wife, who does not use a viewfinder, and me for snapshots. If you're an "oldschool" viewfinder photographer and think you can do without it. DON'T DO IT.
The camera produces inconsistent results in focus, exposure and overall image quality. If I were more diligent with the settings, I'm sure I could get better results, but as said above, this was bought for snapshots for my use and not for creative photography.
My wife's photos with an A630 from a vacation last year are far superior to those from a recent trip using this SX110.
Although there is notable barrel distortion on the wide end, which is not-so-wide, the remaining focal range produces sharp photos when correct focus and exposure are acheived.
I own an array of cameras, some film, with some listed below and need a point and shoot for myself and it will not be another SX110. Probably a G10.

Great camera, nice recording and shooting. Very light (only 2 AA bateries) and discrete. The zoom is a little noisy.

The PowerShot SX110 IS Digital Camera is easy to use and has a great zoom. It uses AA batteries which is a plus because you can find these batteries anywhere and an SD card for memory. The prices for SD cards are really low so you can buy a 1 to 8 gig card pretty cheap and you can take a billon shots depending on the SD card size. I've own other Canon cameras and they were all great cameras.

This is a great camera for all-around use. It's not a tiny pocket camera, but there are lots of pockets it will fit into. The screen is large and sharp, refresh seems fast and fluid, and the photos are quite nice in general. You can only use digital zoom during video recording, but that's not a biggie for me. The zoom range is great and the camera can zoom very quickly from wide-angle to telephoto.

I am an amateur photographer who uses the camera on a infrequent basis; however, having used it now for several months, I can say that this camera is excellent for my photography needs. I bought the camera for its size and its zoom, and both are pleasing to me.

It is easy to use and a fabulous first time camera for anyone, not tech savy. I live in the American Southwest and let me tell you, it captures all the various colors and light changes in canyons. It also takes really awesome pictures of people as well.

Good pictures. Good lens. The battery life and 'next shot' cycle time are an issues you have to deal with. This a very good camera for travel, but not so good as a snap shot camera. If you are traveling or taking pictures that require a decent zoom lens (stronger that the usual 4X) then this camera is certainly worth a look.

This camera is easy enough for my 13 year old to have a great time with. The best part about this camera is no wires to charge your batteries.....just replace 2 AA batteries and you're set. Only downfall is the non flip up flash.

I love the large 3' LCD screen, I don't need my cheater glasses to see the images. Clear good quality photos. I took a digital photography class where we compared many digital cameras, some very expensive models. My instructor was amazed with what this Point and Shoot could do and the quality of the shots I took.

I gave the camera to my wife for Christmas. Then we headed off to the Grand Cangon to take some pictures. The camera is great. Easy to use. Takes great pictures. My wife is very pleased. She especially likes the easy to use features and the extent of features offered. My brother in law was jealous and said he had to buy one.

This is a nice camera that is full of features for is size. The only draw back about it is the time it takes to recharge the flash to take the next pic. The LCD is huge and is good quality. Get a screen protector of some kind. The only other thing is that it goes through some batteries fast. I just got some rechargeable ones and hope this helps. The camera does a fairly good job in low light and inside especially when compared to most other point and shoot cameras.

This camera is so user-friendly, it's crazy! The menus, the nice big clear LCD, the incredible zoom lens, etc. It doesn't get much better! All for just under $200, and you've got a winning choice.
One thing that's nice is that since my eyes aren't the best, I'm usually fishing for my glasses to review my photos. With such a big, sharp, vivid LCD, I thankfully don't need my glasses any more while shooting.
My only gripe is that the flash doesn't pop up by pressing the flash button. You have to manually pop it up when you want it.
Best $200 I've spent in years!
