This is a replacement for the originasl that came with the camera. It does not seem to resist scratching or nicking. I recommend it only because the LCD should have some kind of protection and I do not know of anything else to use.

When my stock LCD broke (user error), I hopped on different internet marketplace, not B&H, and ordered a new "OEM" replacement. I received the replacement, and to my dismay, the plastic was tinted blue and had a fogginess to it. I was disappointed to see that even something as inexpensive and simple as a screen cover was being reproduced by third-parties to such low standards of quality.

That knock-off was quickly tossed in the trash, and I ordered a REAL OEM replacement from B&H.

Lesson learned.

The new LCD cover is crystal clear and does not distort the images on the screen in any way.

I would recommend purchasing an extra one just to keep around.

The headline says it all! This screen cover (ostensibly fabricated from tough polycarbonate) is intended to fasten to the back of your Nikon D90 camera body to protect the LCD monitor screen from scratches and other environmental hazards. While this product does perform that function, it prominently wears every scratch, ding, and gouge like battle scars. Even wiping fingerprints off the screen cover with a soft cloth is likely to leave hairline scratches in its wake, so instead of worrying about scratching the D90s monitor screen, you can instead worry about getting the monitor cover all banged up, which will cost you a mere $14 to replace when it finally becomes an eye-sore...say every month or two. Which is odd because I had a D40x for over 3 years, after which time, the (unprotected!) monitor screen was as pristine perfect as the day I got it.
I love my D90, and Nikons superb lenses, but they really missed on this item. I may try one of the hardened, multi-coated glass aftermarket covers, if only to have one less thing to have to worry about when out and about with my camera!

This product has a very simple and basic function...to cover (and thereby prevent) scratching the LCD monitor screen on your Nikon D90 camera. A reasonable prerequisite of such an accessory is that it should be free of scratches, internal bubbles, inclusions and other visible imperfections...at least when received new from the manufacturer, and the failure of 3 copies of this product to meet that modest requirement is the sole reason I have conferred the '2 stars of death' rating upon it. The first example of this was the manufacturer supplied monitor cover that came with my rand new USA Nikon D90 body. It had a highly visible internal air-bubble almost right in the middle of the monitor screen. Nikon CS put up such a fuss about replacing it that I decided to just 'be a sport' and buy one here from B&H. [...] upon peeling back the protective film on its outer surface revealed to my utter horror,an even larger imperfection! [...]That the 3rd copy had a tiny, insignificant scratch on its inner surface in no way detracts from B&H, but rather is indicative of a serious decline in Quality Control at Nikon. One would think that the same company that made the legendary Nikon Ftn, D700, D3 and the cameras used on NASA missions could produce a little polycarbonate screen cover without clearly visible manufacturing defects. But sadly, it would appear we would be wrong on that point. Oh, well...I guess Nikons motto has devolved (like so many other companies)to "we don't make 'em like we used to'.

This product was exactly what I needed and was looking for. It's not bulky and doesn't get in the way of taking pictures, however I don't have to worry about it peeling off like a plastic sticker would.

The BM-10 LCD Cover for Nikon's D90 camera is a great protection device. I have pushed through the thick brush and woods of Northern Minnesota pursuing birds and wildlife. I try to keep the camera under my coat to protect it, but it still gets some wear. The viewfinder is recessed and protected, but the LCD is larger and more exposed. The removable shield is a life saver. Despite the care I take it became scratched enough over time that I recently replaced it and was amazed at the bright clear view that was restored for a few dollars. More importantly, the underlying screen was unscathed despite hard use.
