The MC-DC2 remote cord is very reliable and so easy to use right off the box. Just plug it in and fire away. Reliable in a sense that it hasn't misfire yet. In my case, it is more of a challenge to open the accessory connector cap of my D90 than to use this at all.
Due to its size, it is convenient enough to carry around with you in the back pack. It is so small so light and it doesn't take alot of space. Best thing is, it doesn't need a battery to power it up. The three foot long cord is just enough that if let go from a tripod mounted camera, it will only dangle to its side thus tripping from it is remote if not impossible.
Durability wise, it is made of hard plastic and seemed good enough. Like anything else, it will need tender care in order for it serve you a long time.
This remote release cord has one botton. If you're looking for simplisity and reliability, and the only need is for it to remotely fire your camera to eliminate the vibration, then this is for you. Best use for low light long exposure shots.
There really is nothing wrong I can say about this product except that if you have a big hand, you may find it hard to grip due to its size.
Great product for the price.

Using this device is very tricky with the new D7000 and an L Bracket. There is very little room to fit the remote and it is especially difficult in a portrait mode. Returned it for the ML-L3 wireless remote that works great since the new D7000 has sensors in the front and the rear of the camera.

Used on my D90 while shooting pics at a balloon festival. D90 was mounted on a monopod and the remote cable enable me to shoot almost non stop and keep the camera and pod very steady.

Comments about Nikon MC-DC2 Remote Release Cord:
The headline says it nicely. I tried a cheaper knockoff. It was garbage to say the least. The plug broke off in my D7000 upon first use. I wouldn't recommend using an inferior knockoff. Save a little and buy the real deal on this item.
It's worth the money.

Comments about Nikon MC-DC2 Remote Release Cord:
I could have saved a couple bucks, but I go Nikon only whenever I can, and am always rewarded with superior quality and performance. MC-DC2 is reasonably priced anyway, and is a great remote for my D7000.....

A must if you're doing landscape photography with a tripod. Much better than an IR remote control. I've given that one away.

This product was exactly what I was looking for. The only thing I would change about it would be it would have a longer cord on it. Otherwise I am very pleased with it so far.

Comments about Nikon MC-DC2 Remote Release Cord:
As a product photographer, D7000, mirror up, live view - to feed my wide screen viewer, I've been using ML-L3 remote. Having received the MC-DC2 recently, I no longer have to touch my camera and disturb the composure to bring the view back on line.... nice feature!!
Were I to critisize it at all, I'd love a longer cord, and I wish it would turn the camera off and on.
Still, I can hardly wait until I can get it in the woods for some nature photos w/telephoto lens!!

I bought this after having a 3rd party knock-off release cord get stuck in my D5100. As expected, the Nikon product fits the socket smoothly and functions perfectly

Comments about Nikon MC-DC2 Remote Release Cord:
works great. what I like is that when doing photographs, you can stand off to the side and shoot. This is great with kids as they are looking at you and not the camera. also removes any chanch of taking a blured picture.

I got this for my Nikon D5100. It worked right away without any hassle. I used it to simply trigger the shutter and to hold it in Bulb Mode.

Comments about Nikon MC-DC2 Remote Release Cord:
I've been using the release cable on my D3100 while the camera is mounted on a tripod to photograph some coins that I recently acquired. Without the cable release I had to use the timer to insure a solid focus and no movement.
The MC-DC2 fits solidly in the slot on the side of the camera. There is no play at all and it makes solid contact everytime. I'm pleased with the quality as I am with most Nikon accessories.
I'd say it's a must have for macro and still-life photography.
