The MC-DC2 remote cord is very reliable and so easy to use right off the box. Just plug it in and fire away. Reliable in a sense that it hasn't misfire yet. In my case, it is more of a challenge to open the accessory connector cap of my D90 than to use this at all.
Due to its size, it is convenient enough to carry around with you in the back pack. It is so small so light and it doesn't take alot of space. Best thing is, it doesn't need a battery to power it up. The three foot long cord is just enough that if let go from a tripod mounted camera, it will only dangle to its side thus tripping from it is remote if not impossible.
Durability wise, it is made of hard plastic and seemed good enough. Like anything else, it will need tender care in order for it serve you a long time.
This remote release cord has one botton. If you're looking for simplisity and reliability, and the only need is for it to remotely fire your camera to eliminate the vibration, then this is for you. Best use for low light long exposure shots.
There really is nothing wrong I can say about this product except that if you have a big hand, you may find it hard to grip due to its size.
Great product for the price.

Using this device is very tricky with the new D7000 and an L Bracket. There is very little room to fit the remote and it is especially difficult in a portrait mode. Returned it for the ML-L3 wireless remote that works great since the new D7000 has sensors in the front and the rear of the camera.

Comments about Nikon MC-DC2 Remote Release Cord:
I really need the genuine Nikon part at a good price and B&H Photo never disappoints. Had the remote release and was using it within 3 days of ordering. Always use B&H for any audio/video need.

I bought this remote to use when shooting artwork for show catalogs. Even with bright photo floods I often need longer exposures. With this remote I avoid camera shake and get sharp photos.

Comments about Nikon MC-DC2 Remote Release Cord:
I use the remote cord all the time on the tripod. It takes the "fuzz" off the photos, especially with Mirror Up.
Wish it had a red/green light to signify in or out of focus.

I used the product recently to shoot a lunar eclipse under some extreme cold conditions and it did not function properly. Works fine in less extreme conditions.

Comments about Nikon MC-DC2 Remote Release Cord:
I've been using the Remote Cord to shoot long exposures, mainly at night. Worked great when shooting the lunar eclipse in December. Since I was wearing gloves the release button sometimes locked. Not a big deal.

Bought this for use with a Nikon D700. It is not the usual release, but I needed one to be used at the same time as using a Nikon GP-1, which plugs into the same the point as the regular D700 remote cord. The MC-DC2 attaches to the GPS unit, and it works well.

This products works as stated. I just started using this remote and I am having fun with it. Just plug in and go. It is a great accessory to have. I have not had it long enough to rate its reliability.

Comments about Nikon MC-DC2 Remote Release Cord:
The product works great. The only drawback is the short length of the cord. I use it mainly for family portraits and night shots. It works with all the Nikon d3100 shooting modes (single, continuous, timer, and quiet.

Comments about Nikon MC-DC2 Remote Release Cord:
I first used the MC-DC2 remote release with a D7000 at night with temperatures in the mid-teens. The (very flimsy) connecting cable became extremely stiff from the cold, the release button was virtually impossible to feel with gloves on (or with cold fingers) and the button stuck several times when I was able to find it. Bottom line: although I needed a remote release for the work I was doing, this product is not well suited to use in either darkness or cold temperatures. In contrast, the Nikon MC-30 remote release for my D300 can easily be used while wearing gloves or with cold fingers, and the release button is easy to find and control. Also the MC-3 is far more robust in design and construction than the MC-DC2. IMO, the MC-DC2 is a low-end product; the D7000 is a fine camera and deserves a better quality remote release.

Comments about Nikon MC-DC2 Remote Release Cord:
I use it mostly for doing timed exposures over 30 seconds on the "Bulb" setting without having to touch my camera or tripod- makes my shoots a lot easier. Lightweight and compact, takes no room in the bag.

Comments about Nikon MC-DC2 Remote Release Cord:
Plugs right into the side of my Nikon D90 and Nikon D3100 cameras. It is very easy to use and does reduce camera motion during photographs. The ability to lock it down for repeat shots is useful if you are taking several rapid shots.
