Comments about Aluratek 7-Port USB 2.0 Hub:
Too many USB HD's- and then peripherals , plugging, unplugging... I got this because it was necessary, and it works exactly as described. I wanted a powered hub so there wouldn't be any issues as to what would work when connected to the device and what wouldn't.
Decent quality, good value for the $$.
I use this on a Mac Pro set up video editing machine.

Comments about Aluratek 7-Port USB 2.0 Hub:
I have set up four 1TB drives into two mirrored raids and I only had two usb ports on my MacBook Pro. I would have to plug and unplug the respective raid pairs each time i needed to access the drives. Now I have both raids plugged in constantly, my printer, and i can plug in my thumb drive any time, either on the spare port on the laptop or either of the two spare ports on the hub. I did not need to plug in the power supply as the drives have their own. No glitches at all as of two weeks of use.Great product. [...] only now I'm thinking of adding another couple of usb drives which means I may want another bigger hub... OY!

Comments about Aluratek 7-Port USB 2.0 Hub:
This is a neat device- in fact I have been longing for a 7 port USB HUB that can power itself without the use of a power supply, although this prodcut comes with one I never used it since I got this. I am going 99.999999% wireless because cords and wires are just SOooo last century, and plus I have small 4 legged fury creatures running around my small work area- I dont want them to get hurt or to damage a device. This device is fast, reliable, lights up a port that is being used (green color). and the HUB itseld lights red to ensure it is working. 7 port is about the maximum port I plan of using unless they come up with USB Leg Warmers then I'll need to step up....but other than that it suites my needs to the fullest...OOoooh and one reason why I gave it a ****FOUR**** stars rather than a FIVE is because the HUB would have been alot more portable with a built in USB A male to B male connector. The USB cord it came with is 3 foot long, such a long cord for a small HUB- I am in search of a 3 inch USB cord unless I have my partner 'tweak' this cord into a 3 inch.....

This is just what I needed to expand the number of USB ports associated with my desktop PC. As far as I can tell, the hub's USB ports perform identically to the USB ports in my CPU -- just as fast and seamless. Happy with this purchase.

After my problems with another hub I was very pleased with the hub, I especially liked the light that comes on when the USB cable is in use it is very useful when trouble shooting. I also liked all the ports on one side. All in all I would recommend it highly

Comments about Aluratek 7-Port USB 2.0 Hub:
I have a lot of USB stuff that was hanging off the monitors of my two-monitor setup, hanging on the front and the back of the CPU; just too much confusion.
The Aluratek hub cleaned things up very nicely. I haven't formally measured speed, but I have no reason to. It just works. You don't even know it's there.
