All my TV's are smaller than 26" and thus I wanted to set up a simple home theater for my kids who quite frankly could care less about the quality of the picture. They just wanted a big picture. Feel like a theater. I thus tried to find a projector that wouldn't break the bank but would get me the result I wanted. Big picture and good quality. What I got with the Z60 was way beyond my expectations or needs.I did lots of research and actually had a few other projectors in mind. All priced under [$]. The Z60 caught my attention because of the input selection, contrast ratio, how quiet it was, 2 times zoom, lens shifting and hard to find 3 year warranty. The Z60 cost me less than most 50" LCD/Plasma on sale during black Friday and gives me a picture that I can customize to whatever size I want because of the 2 times zoom. My wife likes a smaller picture (50”) where the kids and I like a big picture (100”). This works like a charm for my situation.I have an older standard DVR (does not upscale) hooked to the projector. The picture quality is awesome and I only have it shown on a white bed sheet for now. I am truly amazed. I had a standard RCA connection at first and the picture looked great and thought I’d try a component connection which improved the quality a little bit. My DVR player does not have an HDMI connection but when I have the money to buy a better DVR/DVD player I look forward to seeing the difference.I like how the projector handles 16:9 and 4:3 content. No distortion of the image in regards to stretching out the person. I was really worried about the 4:3 viewing but my worries are no longer valid. The projector gives you lots of image options.Standard TV viewing is good (not as crisp as watching a DVD) depending upon the station but I base that on my cable connection and/or DVR tuner not the projector. This may not be a 1080p projector, but if you are like me, someone who wanted a big picture at a lower cost and quite frankly can’t visually tell the difference between a 1080p and 720p, this will make a fantastic projector for you.

PLV-Z60 has major flaws
the projector was very easy to set up;
however, shortly after using it, the picture would show a transparent horizontal green block scrolling up the screen all the time.

Comments about Sanyo PLV-Z60 720p HD Home Theater Projector:
The z60 has replaced an office projector in our home theater. It's far superior to the compact unit with comparable specifications. The picture is crisp, the fan is quiet, the shutter keeps the dust clear, it throws a huge picture over a short distance, and the remote has a back-light. The richest image comes at a cost - it is much dimmer than the 1200 lumens available. We have had to install light blocking drapes in order to get a rich image. This unit would be great in a bonus room with few/no windows.

i'm not an expert by any means but this is a huge step up from the dell standard def projector i inherited a couple years ago. out of the box picture quality is great and sharp. lens shift is great and super easy for set up too. i watch in complete dark and also in relatively bright ambient light and it holds up well in either situation. great projector.

This is a fantastic projector for the price! I was able to pick it up on sale for [...]I did careful research on this projector and ALMOST bought the BenQ W500, but when I found this had dropped in $$$ I snagged it as quick as I could! I have it projecting onto a 92" pull down screen and I could not be happier! Setup was a sinch, there are plenty of inputs (2xHDMI, 2xComponent, S-Vid, Composite, ETC) and the menu is very easy to navigate through. Picture quality is a HUGE upgrade from my old Sharp PG-B10S and picture quality and brightness/contrast remains even in ambient light. I see no visible pixelation, even from close to the screen. I love how there is an automatic lens cover that closes when you shut off the projector to cover the lens from dust! If you don't want to wait for 1080p to drop in $$$ get one of these ASAP!

I've had a Sanyo PLV-Z2 for 5 years now and enjoyed it immensely, even though it pretty much required view in a darkened room. It was time for a new lamp for my old beamer, so I decided it was time to upgrade and am I glad I ever did! The PLV-Z60 I received is much brighter, quieter and overall an excellent projector. Hookup was a snap. In less than 10 minutes I was watching video. Thanks B&H.
