The Photoshop Elements 7 Software for Windows from Adobe is an intuitive, yet powerful, consumer image editing application for Windows. Digital cameras have given us the ability to take literally thousands of images, with no hefty developing costs. Photoshop Elements helps to organize these images in a logical manner. You'll be able to apply tags to any picture; tags can include the location, an event, or the name of a person shown in the photo. It's easy to assign multiple tags. Want to find every picture you have of your dog, Indiana? Just click on her tag.
You can also create albums manually, or use Smart Albums based on search criteria. Smart Albums are dynamic, automatically updating as you add and tag photos, or when you change their search criteria. Up to 10 criteria can be selected for any Smart Album.

- Red eye? Poor lighting? Lens distortion? These are all common problems that are inherent in snapshots. Photoshop Elements features tools to easily correct these issues, and the program does much more. You'll be able to combine multiple pictures to create a composite image, apply artistic filters, add text and graphics to photos, remove wrinkles from portraits, and control color temperature. Photoshop Elements even gives you access to advanced darkroom tools, including dodge, burn, and sponge.

- Elements includes a subscription to the Photoshop.com Basic online service. The service allows you to share photos with family and friends via invitation-only online albums. You can also share ideas and learn to better use Photoshop via tutorials and templates. The membership gives you 2GB of storage: enough to store up to 1500 photos.

- There's no point in taking photos to simply have them sit on your hard drive. Elements features tools to help you turn snapshots into scrapbooks, calendars, greeting cards, and photo albums. You'll be able to print your creations at home, from within the program.

The Internet has made sharing pictures with family and friends easier than it has ever been before. Elements gives you a plethora of options to share your photos digitally. You'll be able to create web albums, e-mail photos to friends, and even create Ken Burnsesque movies of your snapshots.

I'm not so sure it's lucky, but it's an okay number. New features are added to every version of Elements, and some of the older features get better. Like many folks, I suspect, I typically use a small subset of all the STUFF in this program. And to think that this is a subset of CS4!! What would I do with CS4??
The main reason I upgraded was because I got a new Canon camera, and Version 5 wouldn't read my CR2 RAW files. The newest Camera Raw does a great job of developing RAW images. I don't have too much to compare it with, but for me, Camera Raw does what I need it to do.
BUT....this software is S-L-O-W. I've wanted to upgrade my laptop for a while. I travel with this laptop and work on photos in the evenings, and it has problems handling the huge RAW files I now need to work with.
The other (more minor) nit I have is that, when you use the "Process Multiple Files" command with RAW images, it wants to convert them to PSDs. All I want to do is copy and rename the files, and keep the CR2 extension. It just won't do it, though, so I'll have to find another way---probably with an old DOS command.
So...in a nutshell...Elements 7 gets better with time, but it's aging and slowing down. When will the bloat stop??

Great product. Has 98% of the tools that the average photographer uses at a lot better price than the full version of Photoshop. I find that I am using it more than the full version of photoshop that I currently own. Great product at a great price.

Elements is a powerful photo and graphics program, but it is not intuitive. If you think you are just going to pick this up and be processing your photos in 10 minutes, forget it. I would recommend a good book on Elements if you plan to take full advantage of this program. Still, once you learn how to use it, it is really incredible what it can do.

I bought a new laptop with 4 gigs of ram and a 320 gig hardrive and tried to install elements 7. I found that it will partially install, but it will not show up in Autoplay for downloading pictures directly to photoshop. I tried photo shop help, no help. my laptop finally gave me an answer, elements 7 is incompatable with my 64 bit computer. No Mention of this in elements information. now what? can't get anything from Adobe.
