Somewhat detailed overview of the D700, but no more. With such a title, we may all agree that the video could have gone either way: Jumpstart Guide and stop with the basics, or Jumpstart Guide which would have gone into detailed operation of the D700. Obviously, the company fell short on providing a more in-depth look at the D700.
The training video is long, and seemingly did little more than waste my time.
PROS:
You'll get a great overview of features for your new camera.
It wasn't too expensive, and may well be worth it for someone "just" getting started.
CONS:
Too brief and stuck on "overviews".
Long and somewhat boring, even from the beginning.
Leaves you thinking that they will be providing you details – that you keep waiting for.
Bottom line:
Good marketing, good title, very lightweight content.

The most irritating thing about it is the fact that it sends you to read the camera's manual quite often. If the camera's manual was user friendly I wouldn't have bought this DVD set for sure. Now I know it was a mistake. It doesn't show the basics for someone who never had a DSRL and it doesn't show anything interesting for an advanced photographer like myself. The author speaks too fast and at a certain point I got stressed listening to it. The tone of his voice made me sleepy towards the end.

This guide was helpful seeing and understanding the basic operation of this camera. It had enough detail to get oriented to the menus and capabilities of the camera. The DVD on picture taking tips was a good review for me but anyone with a bug for photography would find it pretty basic and not useful. Several of the suggestions on the camera information I have taken and proved to be time saving and valuable information. The information on picture information screens regarding RGB intensity and bright spot and shadow analysis were especially helpful as well as the white balance adjustments

The DVD tutorials are very useful but take some technique. I found it best to set the camera up on a tripod next to me to reduce fumbling. The DVD's move very quickly. I find it necessary to pause play frequently, refer directly to the camera and sometimes the manual and then resume. With practice this works well.
