I recently purchased these mics to use with my H4n recorder and a Canon DSLR. Since I got them I have done a couple of tests and one larger project. Overall I have been pleased with the quality of the audio and also the construction of the mics... here are a few more details.

Pros:
1) Good price
2) Clear audio
3) Works well with field recorder

Cons:
1) They are obviously wired, so you are limited by your xlr cable length.
2) Picked up some pops when the subject was speaking (probably my poor placement)
3) Phantom power drains portable audio recorders batteries really fast.

I would definitely recommend them if you understand the limitations of what you are working with.

Two mics, for the price of one! This came in very handy for my most recent travel assignment. I needed two microphones that I didn't care about possibly destroying on my trip to Haiti. These were perfect. They served two purposes and the audio quality isn't bad at all.

I would give it five stars...the only thing I wish was different is the wiring. I wish that where the wire meets the XLR connecter there was a more reinforcement. My first impression was that it felt a little bit cheap. No problems so far though and I put them through a good beating.

I've used the cardiod lavalier for multiple interviews at this point, both in indoor and windy outdoor settings, and it works very well. The cable itself feels pretty delicate, so take care not to kink or tug it for fear of breaking. The male XLR connector is tighter than I fell comfortable plugging directly into my camera... you really have to wrestle to get it out, so I now always plug it into a longer XLR cable, which gives the talent more of a comfortable leash length anyways. Overall, it is a mic set that is serving us well.

needed to augment a wireless lav when having transient interference. Works great for 8-10' interviews.

The bad points first. The inside of the connector is way to small. I almost rip the xlr connector from my camera trying to remove it. The second mic ( this time connected to a xlr cable!) was as tight. And the wires are flimsy looking! The solutions? A bit of sanding and graphite and the connector problem is solved. And for the wire, a bit of camera tape to secure the wire to the casing, with some slack and the connection should stay fine for a while. I used a different color for each mic.

The cardio is very small and the pick-up pattern of the omni is great.And the quality of the sound? I have a Tram and a Sony.These guys are not as clean but very close.Close enough that I will buy 2 more pairs just in case. A must have.

Long time broadcast camera op and i find that these do the job for my outside productions...

mostly sit down invu's it would be nice to have a belt clip but not crucial.

Can't beat them for the price.
Obviously high end jobs deserve high end equipment and i would rent if needed but the MXL's do the job for Q&D's.

These lavs really came in handy when shooting an interview we did. After reviewing the final cut of our production, I was highly pleased at how great the sound quality turned out. It was definitely worth the investment.

What caught my eye was its great low price for two mics. The relative quality for my level of production was great after a bit of post production editing. My favorite thing was the fact that it comes with two types of mics. One being an omnidirectional for general use, and a cardioid best used for interviewing. Only things I wish could be a bit better were cord length, size and cord strength. These are only minor drawbacks though.

The clip on the unidirectional is cheap it just kind of loosely clips onto the cable but some super glue seems to do the trick. However the quality of sound on both are better than my old Sennheiser G1 wireless (which cost hundreds of dollars).An excellent deal if they are treated gingerly.I use them for legal video depositions and expect the cable will break from the mic the first time someone forgets to take it off before walking away from the table....but at [$] for 2 I'm not too worried about it.

The mic's are really clear. There is no detectable hum when I connect them to my mixer or directly to my Canon XL1. Great product. Plan on purchasing an addition set. Only four stars because XLR connect are really snug.

Along with my Panasonic AG HMC 150P, I used the microphones to conduct over 18 (run and gun) oral history project interviews. The mics performed admirably. Be sure to use at least a 12 -15 mic extension cable; do not attempt to plug them directly into your camera's XLR input… doing so is improper use. Based on your tastes, you might need to lower the mic levels to ensure desired recording levels – to save time in post. If you prefer a "flat" sound, you'll need to do a bit of post tweaking; otherwise you'll be quite satisfied with your results. And if you position your Talents close enough, you can get away with a three person interview with "Very usable" audio.
