Comments about Phonic Helix Board 18 Universal - 18-Ch Mixer w/ USB 2.0 & FireWire Interface:
18 Ch mixer, with 18 separate recording tracks available in both USB and Firewire... For [$]!Sounds like heaven!Well, yeah, it's pretty cheap for what you'll get, but still, if you're looking for great quality products, you may want to review your choice. When I bought my first one in 2009, it was defective... Changed it and enjoyed the new one a few weeks later.About live sound ( mixer ):The preamps are horrible... Noise when you amplify them, it peaks a lot faster than good quality ones. The DSPs are ok, not worth lexicon or Yamaha, but still useful for voicesThe general layout is intuitive and well engineered. A lot of i/o channels, efx send/rtn..., 2 Aux channels. Great value for the price.About the firewire interface:Works randomly... Sometime it will be perfect, sometime you will get cracks and noise in your recordings, random disconnections... The drivers are not very stable, far from RME and Motu. The cheap preamps still sound cheap in the recordings.Pros: You can still record 14 different channels in the same time, for [$], it's awesome!I used it for drums studio recording, as well as small live performances. I enjoyed it for a few months, then it broke down, and I bought a real audio interface (Motu 24 i/o), which changed my life.To summ up, I would say it's a good choice, but don't expect too much on the quality. It's worth the price.

Comments about Phonic Helix Board 18 Universal - 18-Ch Mixer w/ USB 2.0 & FireWire Interface:
I use this product for personal band recording through the USB and soon to be Firewire. It has many features and great sound! I get some noise when I turn up the gain on the mic preamp, but thats mainly because I have a cheap mic. The only problems I have are crackling on the chorus, flanger, and phaser effects, and the USB output is kind of quiet.
