I bought this along with my MB-D10 Nikon battery grip. What can I say. It's light, strong, and fits like a glove to the grip. I use it on my CF tripod with a Acratech Ultimate ballead. I have a RRS Bh-40 ballhead (trying to sell) because I prefer the Acratech Ultimate. As soon as possible I'm going to order the Acratech GV-2 ballhead. I'll already have the plate and I'll be ready to go. You need this plate so why pay more money? With many years experience, I would suggest matching camera plates and ballheads with the same manufacture even if one says it will fit the other. Better safe than sorry.

Nice plate, can attach to camera and leave it there with out it getting in the way or making your camera off balance if you need to set it down. Light as well

Does what it is supposed to do. Lightweight. Would get 5 stars if the screw was contained and couldn't fall out.

AS far as the plate itself is concerned, it is solid, well designed and substantial. It fits perfectly and prevents any sort of slippage in relation to the grip.
There is one caveat that needs to be mentioned if you intend to purchase this for your D200 with the MB-D200 for fine photography. While there is solid attachment to the grip base, the weak link in the system now becomes the relationship between the grip and the camera. On my set-up there is slight movement between the two. As I rock the camera while mounted on the tripod, there is still movement visible through the viewfinder. I purchased this plate in an attempt to eliminate movement and vibration while locked down and although this plate is significantly more solid than the plate I was using before, all movement is not eliminated. If you intend to do some seriously long exposures or tight macros you will probably be better off taking off the grip and mounting the camera directly to the tripod with the appropriate plate for the camera body.
Acratech builds quality products and this plate is no exception. Buy it with confidence but understand that the addition of a grip to a D200 makes the whole platform less solid. This may not be true for the D300 or D700 as their grips are different and may be more solid.

I purchased this particular release plate because it will fit both of my cameras and for the price point. It fits exactly as described with no camera twist. I am buying a second one so that I can leave it attached to the cameras. The only "con" I have is I would prefer a "D" ring on the attachment screw instead of having to us an Allen Wrench.
