The Eee PC 900 Notebook Computer from ASUS is a tiny computer, designed with ultraportability in mind. The two pound system is an ideal traveling companion. Its 8.9" screen is perfect for watching videos when traveling, and its solid-state hard disk won't be damaged by bumps and shocks. It features standard 802.11g Wi-Fi, allowing you to hop on to wireless networks and hotspots with ease.
The computer runs Windows XP Home Edition. Microsoft Works is included for productivity, in addition to the standard suite of Windows applications. The 12GB hard drive may be a bit on the svelte side, but there is a standard Secure Digital memory card slot on the computer. This allows you to load and play music, videos, and images with ease.
The Eee PC is an excellent choice for the road warrior who requires very basic computer functionality. It will allow you to check e-mail, perform basic office tasks, watch videos, and play games. Most importantly, it won't weigh down your luggage when you're on the road.
- Internet Applications
- The Eee PC includes several Internet applications. These include Internet Explorer for web chatting, and Windows Live for instant messages and e-mail. Windows allows you to hop on to open hotspots via Wi-Fi when you are on the go.
- Office Tools
- Microsoft Works is installed on the system, allowing you to perform word processing, spreadsheet, and database tasks. Adobe Reader is also included, allowing you to view PDF documents.
- Games and Media
- No computer is complete without games. The Eee PC comes with the standard Windows games package, which includes solitaire and minesweeper. It also features Windows Media Player, which allows you to watch videos and listen to music.
- Storage Expansion via SD
- The system includes an SDHC memory card slot. This slot can read and write data on SD, SDHC, and MMC cards. These memory cards, which are used in most digital cameras, are very small, and can hold up to 16GB of data.
