The 3-Year AppleCare for iMac from Apple gives you peace of mind by extending your coverage for three (3) years of both telephone support and service coverage. This provides you with expert assistance, global repair coverage for your iMac, web-based resources and diagnostic tools.
AppleCare can be purchased at any time within your first year of Mac ownership. It must be registered with Apple prior to the expiration of the system's factory warranty.
AppleCare can only be purchased by customers residing in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Spain, Switzerland, the United States, and the United Kingdom. A Must-Have For Any Mac

I recently bought a used iMac and it was still under it's 1-year warranty, so I opted for the extra protection of AppleCare. This is the second iMac I have owned.
The first was an iMac G5. First off, this was a great computer and I used it A LOT the first three years while doing freelance design work while in school. In that time, which was thankfully covered by AppleCare, I had the power supply unit replaced, the SuperDrive go bad, and then a hard drive die. AppleCare made the replacements and repairs quick and easy.
I used it for nearly 6 years before it finally died on me (the dreaded G5 bulging capacitors, eek!), and had to wait several months before I could afford another.
Knowing no computer is invincible, I get AppleCare just in case. It covers such a range of hardware troubles that the extra cash is worth the time and money saved in the event of problems. Not only is it a good value, but the AppleCare reps are friendly and helpful.
Don't skimp on this -- buy it straight away when you get a new Mac. Even if you get a used Mac and it is still in it's first year, it is eligible for AppleCare, so don't leave B&H without it in your cart.

Unless that's not covered, it comes on a disk, I haven't read it.

I bought my first Apple computer this fall from B&H, and I have never owned Apple before so this was all new to me. I found that the computer is incredibly easy to set up (one cord-read that ONE cord!!!!) and it was easy to get going. The computer and software is easy to use, except there is that getting used to the new bar at the top, etc. But it is amazing, the software is easy to use. I was able to use the iWeb to figure out how to set up my own website pages...its awesome. I am a person who uses the computer for photography, I am not professional, but I do take thousands a photos a year, and so far this computer has held up to its standards. LOVE IT.

I'm never a big fan of extended warranty. But I think AppleCare is a great value, and the best way to protect your investment. If you want that peace of mind for the next 3 years, you definitely should purchase this protection plan. Hard drives do die, when it does, you can just take it to the Apple store to get service.

Most product warranties usually aren't worth getting. That's also true of AppleCare for things like iPods and iPhones, where it's arguably better to put the money towards the latest model instead. With iMacs, though, the replacement/repair cost is high enough that a single incident makes this worth it. Other than sketchy auction sellers, B&H has one of the lowest prices for this.

iMac #2, the only reason I bought the Applecare was to Cover my ... Apple's are not cheap, and worse if they break down. Apple care is cheap compared to the over all cost of the machine. Definitely worth the expense.
