The 3-Year AppleCare for 15" & 17" MacBook Pro from Apple gives you peace of mind by extending your coverage for three (3) years of both telephone support and service coverage. This provides you with expert assistance, global repair coverage for your 15" & 17" MacBook Pro, web-based resources and diagnostic tools.
AppleCare can be purchased at any time within your first year of Mac ownership. It must be registered with Apple prior to the expiration of the system's factory warranty.
AppleCare can only be purchased by customers residing in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Spain, Switzerland, the United States, and the United Kingdom. I have owned several PowerBooks/iBooks and have purchased applecare for all of them (in comparison, haven't bought AppleCare for desktop). If you have even one repair on one of these things out of warranty, you will make up your purchase price. and for items that have little ventilation/heat sinking capabilities (laptops, iPod Touch, etc), risk of something going bad within 3years is pretty high. I have had to get my Powerbook repaired three times (bad optical drive, bad keyboard buttons, etc), iBook once (case cracking, dead HDD), iPod Touch twice due to bad battery life and intermittent power, and the display repaired (power mangement unit died). Every time either Apple would repair it, or replace the unit with either new or refurbished unit, no questions asked (unless there is obvious signs of abuse). You can take it to any Apple Store, or call their 1800 number and have them send you a shipping box. Turn around is typically 3-4 days (!!) from the time you call them and have your part back in your hands.
Included in the hardware warranty is if you have any Apple OS issues or Apple software install/operation issues during the warranty period, you can get free service via phone to help you fix the problem. Best service ever.

I think that for a laptop you might need more help than with the other products. It's a good three years and BH takes out a bit of the sting with their better price.

I think the AppleCare is important to purchase. It not only covers the computer, but it gives free technical support for 3 years. I always have questions and calling the AppleCare team is easy and very helpful. I am not great with technology and new things can stump me. AppleCare technicians have walked me through many issues with my first Mac and I am sure I'll rely on them with this new Mac.

Hard to review a product like this. My Current MacBook Pro hasn't given me issues. I purchased this because its a great piece of mind and when you do have an issue, it will quickly pay for itself. My previous MacBook paid for itself a few times. It went through 3 Batteries ($129 each), 2 Chargers ($79 each), 1 SuperDrive (Not sure of the price), and 1 Keyboard/palm rest because of a crack ($229).

Hard to Review an item like this. My current machine has given me no issue yet. My previous MacBook on the other hand, that ones AppleCare paid for itself a few times. It went through 3 Batteries ($129 each), 2 Chargers ($79 each), 1 Superdrive (Not sure), and 1 Keyboard/Palmrest ($229). Those were all replaced for free.

I've been an Apple product user for almost three decades. I've had AppleCare for most of my products since it became an option and a few that didn't. With the coverage, anything that goes wrong during the second two years is taken care of if it is a part failure or defect. And, the cost of AppleCare is always less than the cost of any repairs/replacements that I would have to pay if I didn't have the coverage! It's like auto insurance, hoping you don't have an accident but knowing you've got the coverage, but no deductible required.

Same thing that is offered by other companies, Apple included.. same thing.. matched up product numbers. It cost me about $100.00 less than what they (anyone else) wanted for the 3yr AppleCare Plan. I don't see how anyone could have a negative on this product. Not the first time I have shopped at B&H and definitely not the last.

Bought this to extend my coverage on my new MBP. Last AppleCare I bought for an older MBP was 12 days past coverage date, and Apple fixed my comsputer anyway, free of charge! Don't forget to register it right away, even if your computer is brand new… B&H has the lowest price, and super fast delivery.

I use my Apple Laptop mainly for my photographs and am continually amazed when I am able to work on another photograph and have it turn out well. I love Apple and would not go back to a PC. I cannot think of anything I don't like about the Apple Laptop.
I will of course use the Apple Protection Plan to get any Apple Technical help I need, either on the phone or at the store. It is a great piece of mind to have this protection plan.
I have bought all my Apple Care Protection Plans for my Apple products from B&H and find that they have the best price and the delivery time is minimal.
