Comments about GoPro Wide HERO Digital Camera:
I've used this camera in martial arts events, dragon cam, sword cam... driving events, walking streets and trade shows. The batteries will last about 80 minutes with NiMH rechargeable, which is plenty considering a 2GB SD holds 56 minutes. I just keep my laptop handy or spare SD cards and switch out batteries.
Planning on doing recording video on the bike soon. I love this camera. No problems with it.

Comments about GoPro Wide HERO Digital Camera:
Use it for skydiving and it is great, small, super wide angle, easy to downliad pics and video. Using rechargeable Nicads it only gets 10-15 minutes per charge, but does much better on Energizer Lithiums.

Comments about GoPro Wide HERO Digital Camera:
The GoPro is great for those tough angles, or impossible shots like jumping out of an airplane into water, or any other extreme sport that begs for POV. The draw back is battery life and or the inconsistency of the batteries. This camera takes 2 AAA batteries, on the back it says Lithium or rechargeable, take this seriously... I used regular batteries and the camera had a voltage issue and shut off seconds before the climax of the shot! It also will change modes at random while recording if you're not using Lithium... It's also recommended that you throw out the batteries after each shot because the GoPro needs a full charge to keep the voltage consistent.

Comments about GoPro Wide HERO Digital Camera:
First, let me say that since I am reviewing this camera not as a photographer (I was never that good at using cameras and I don't really know much about them) but as a skateboarder. This camera only has 2 buttons: 1 to turn it on/off and change modes (video, photo, and photo 2 or 5 seconds or something like that, it has several different modes but I only use the video one and I didn't look at the manual), and 1 to start/stop recording. They are big and easy to find so you never even need to look at it to operate it and it has no screen, so there's no reason to. It does have a little viewfinder that I have never looked through.
All you have to do is stick it a little plastic piece on your helmet, car, whatever (you would have a hard time pulling the glue off if you tried to) which the camera's case clips to. The case is clear, hard plastic, waterproof (verified this today on my first wakeboarding trip of the summer), and the camera itself is sturdy enough to hold up to all the shock of daily skating. I have only had the case hit the street once when my friend wiped out hard wearing it and it still works fine with no damage.
In my opinion, the video looks great (but don't take my word for it, search gopro on youtube). The best thing about this camera is that you absolutely cannot screw up the shot. It has a 170 degree wide angle lens and it's stuck to the front of your helmet, so if you can hold your head straight and look towards something the video will come out perfect.
A normal handheld camera is inconvenient carry to your daily session, and everyone might not wanna take turns filming each other. With a camera on your helmet it's easy to pass it around (if your friend's head is close to the same size as yours) and record any session, or just bring it when you go out to ride by yourself. It doesn't give the same "photo shoot" vibe as someone holding a camera and pointing it at you, and a lot of the time we forget we're filming.
In the 2 weeks I've had this camera, my hard drive has been steadily filling up with videos and even when the skating is not so good, the cinematography is. Wipe outs are very entertaining to watch in the first person perspective, and like I said before, if you are looking anywhere near someone's direction while they do something it will be caught on camera, so the result is tons of cool shots with no camera skills required, no designated photographer, and none of the hassle of bringing your camera bag and getting out your handheld camera, which probably won't capture the awesome candid moments that you can't predict or plan out anyway unless you are holding and aiming it all the time. A 2gb card will hold 56 minutes of video, and the little cards are way cheap so you can bring extra ones in your pocket along with a couple spare batteries (use rechargeables) which allows you to perpetually film everything for hours on end. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants sick videos of whatever they do for fun without having to invest a lot of money, time, or effort into the hobby of photography.

Comments about GoPro Wide HERO Digital Camera:
I love making movies about my kids and my scout troop. The wide angle point of view is so nice to capture such a better perspective than a standard video camea. I love the time-lapse timed shot feature. ( you have to use a after market product to compile the frames into a video, but it's fantasticly clear). The waterproof housing works great, but even with the audio volume set to hi, you cannot hear dialoge, it needs to be out of the housing to pick up good audio. The only picture quality issue I've had is with the direct video. it sometimes gets a flicker.
Fantastic little camera. Everyone asks, "That's a video camera?"
Yup! Cool, huh?
