The Toshiba SD-V296 DVD/VCR Combo Player is a quality DVD player and VCR recorder combo that offers great features at an affordable price. It features a sophisticated 192KHz/24-bit audio processor, progressive scan DVD playback capabilities, simultaneous DVD playback and VCR recording, one-touch recording, S-VHS Quasi Playback, and ColorStream Pro component output for high resolution DVD imagery.
Though it's an excellent DVD player, it can also be used as a CD or MP3 player. You could actually use it to share your favorite songs and photos with friends and family. In addition, it has built-in Dolby Digital/DTS decoders, offering breath-taking surround sound and sonic realism to complement your DVD movie soundtracks. As with the old VCR this replaces, simply pop in a tape and it turns itself on and plays tape. Great for my folks; but they were overwhelmed by all the buttons on the remote, too much, too confusing. Younger people will like all the bells and whistles, but why would young people want a Video Tape player? And you can't record, as there is no digital tuner. Better off with the old separate machines...

I purchased this product from B&H after searching for a DVD/VCR combo player and reading the reviews of other products. This Toshiba combo player is perfect for playing my old VCR tapes and my new and old DVD movies; my next step is to tape my favorite shows while I'm at work, and I'm sure this product will do that to my satisfication. RECORDS AND PLAYS BACK ON SLP as clear as original program

I use this player for watching VHS tapes and DVDs at home. I use it no more than two to four hours a week, but so far I'm satisfied. The VHS player is remarkably quiet. The unit is easy set up and operated. At this point, I can't find any flaw with the unit.

I used this DVD/VCR combo to play DVD movies. It was quite easy to hook up to my TV. Performance was flawless, with excellent picture quality. The VCR component was also easy to use and gave excellent picture quality. Remote worked without a hitch. I would buy this product again.

I use this combo player to view DVD's and video cassettes. I was planning to use it to record video, too. However, there is no UHF input on the back of the unit - so I can't feed the cable signal directly in. I have a separate VCR for recording and then I watch video on this unit. It works very well and I've always been pleased with Toshiba products.

I like this combination player, I bought it because I already own one just like it and needed another. The only thing that would have made it better would be a better price.
