I finally got sick of using 3 clickers to work my cable box, TV, DVD, and VCR. After reading several reviews, I settled on the URC-R6. It's as easy to program as it is to use, and for the price, it's very powerful.
You can do the auto-setup, where you just turn on a component, then aim and click, and it learns the commands. I did this with my TV and cable box, and it worked perfectly. You can also input the manufacturers code, which I did for my older VCR, and that worked fine.
But the best part of all is its' ability to learn the buttons from the original component clicker. I won't go into the details, but basically you put the old clicker nose-to-nose with the URC-R6, and it "learns" whichever button commands you want on it. Amazing!
I am now in complete control of my rather simple home entertainment system. If you have more than six components, you may want to look elsewhere, but for the money, this baby does the trick easily and with no headaches. If you're technically challenged, which I'm not, you can set this thing up in about fifteen minutes. The hardest part is turning on one component at a time. I wish I had purchased this sooner!

I use it with my TV and DVD and it literally took me 5 minutes or less to program and use this product. And it's inexpensive. Great find.

Love the three different methods of input for usage. It makes this remote very flexible where your particular item is not included on list.

The best control brand in the market for me, sure. This is my second one R6 plus another R7 in my home theater room. Play everything with direct codes or codes plus learning to personalized remote.

As where my last remote had the on & off button directly under the channel button I was always turning off the TV when trying to change channels, very frustrating. Now with the URC-R6 Remote everything is laid out nicely and I no longer turn off the TV when trying to change channels.

Comments about Universal Remote URC-R6 Remote Control:
At first skeptical. Our Home Theater Installer suggested purchasing a replacement Remote control for around $600.00. My 87 yr old mother was constantly having issues with the original expensive LCD $700.00 Remote Control, so I thought I would do a little research. Besides being easy to program, when I did run into a Jam, [...] I give this product 5 Stars out of 5. The price is right also. I just saved my mother quite a bit of money. We programmed a TV, Satellite Receiver, Sound Receiver, and DVD Player.

Comments about Universal Remote URC-R6 Remote Control:
I recently purchased this remote after looking at reviews and trying to find a cheap universal remote that was easy to set up and then use. After looking at remotes from $200 to $10 I decided on this one. I'm not a "power user" and didn't need anything fancy, all I wanted to do was hook up my TV, DVD, Surround Sound/Receiver and Cable. The best thing was how easy it was to set up. All of my components were recognized during the first set-up option (the instructions, which are thorough, offer multiple options in case you can't get your components and the remote to recognize one another). I was also able to quickly customize several buttons to do things I needed but weren't recognized by the original set-up (for example, there wasn't a "page up/down" option for my cable menu so I had to scroll thru each channel individually, so I just set up the up/down channel buttons, usually just for the TV, to be the page up/down in the cable menu.)
The remote looks great and works great, I'm very happy with it and would recommend it to anyone looking for an inexpensive URC.

This replaces the cable & TV remote. it even has the codes for my Soyo (Go-Video) Tv, that no other remote has, so I can control both the TV & Cbl box with one remote.
It has a cool feature call "push thru" which allows the cbl box to control the TV volume. This is a girlfriend friendly remote.

I lost my blu ray remote control so instead of ordering one from the blu ray company and paying $30, I settled with this and it's been great...It's also an alternate universal remote.

Comments about Universal Remote URC-R6 Remote Control:
This is a basic remote for a good price. I mainly use it for my TV (as the original remote stopped working) and while it doesn't contain all of the features it functions as I need it. The directions could have been written a bit better but ultimately the setup was easy. My only complaint is its range. To operate the remote I really need to point directly at the TV remote control signal sensor.
