The Zeiss 21mm f/2.8 ZF Distagon T* Lens is a super-wide angle lens designed for high-speed performance and integration with TTL-exposure metering. It has a minimum focusing distance of 8.6" (0.22 m), and thanks to the Carl Zeiss T * anti-reflection coating and its outstanding attenuation of stray light, provides brilliant results under all lighting conditions. It lets you shoot demanding architectural interiors, and is perfect for extreme landscapes, inspiring architecture, and demanding interiors.
The manual focus ZF lenses for F mount are equipped with the AI aperture coupling as well as the pre AI coupling. They do not include CPU coupling. Exposure metering and control is possible with all corresponding camera models. Used with camera models without AI or fork coupling the aperture is closed to the pre-selected value, but metering and automatic aperture control is not possible.

Comments about Zeiss 21mm f/2.8 ZF Distagon T* Lens for Nikon F-Mount Cameras:
I use this lens on a Nikon F5 with Fuji slide films when taking landscape shots. The sharpness rendered from this lens is exceptional. In addition, distorion free images are possible when the camera / lens is held at the appropiate angle. This is now my fourth zeiss lens. Each one has terrific build quality. This lens is manual focus only. However, this is not a problem for my style of photography. The focus ring on this (and the other Zeiss lenses I've used) is the finest I have ever used. The lens is heavy for an ultra wide, so you may want to try it out prior to purchasing if you have a light camera body.

Comments about Zeiss 21mm f/2.8 ZF Distagon T* Lens for Nikon F-Mount Cameras:
I was looking for a wide angle lens to shoot long time exposures at night, with the aperture set wide open to minimize exposure time. I was unable to find a Nikon 24mm f1.4, so I purchased this lens. Viewing files at 100%, I find this Zeiss to be razor sharp in the center and very sharp in the corners. My other lenses-Zeiss 25mm, Nikon 17-35mm, & Nikon 24-70mm, are not even close at f2.8. At f5.6 and above these lenses are all excellent.

Comments about Zeiss 21mm f/2.8 ZF Distagon T* Lens for Nikon F-Mount Cameras:
I first ordered the above lens and returned it for the ZF.2 (same except works with all exposure modes). I shoot with a D700 and F100 body. What a difference this lens makes in clarity, depth of field, and overall effect. Prior to this I would shooot with a 17mm-35 Nikor f2.8 which is a superb lens BUT when comparing landscapes with both the Zeiss wins hands down. it would be 5 stars if it had auto focus.

Comments about Zeiss 21mm f/2.8 ZF Distagon T* Lens for Nikon F-Mount Cameras:
The Zeiss 21mm Distagon is a legendary lens. This is the lens many of us have been waiting for since the first ZF lens was introduced 2 years ago. For those of you who aren't aware, this is a manual focus lens, but will auto expose and gives full TTL information to cameras of D200 and higher make. I'm using it on a Nikon D3x, and the 24.5 megapixel images are SUPERB! It really is remarkable – the sharpest resolution in a wide angle I've ever seen, and superb microcontrast and color.

Comments about Zeiss 21mm f/2.8 ZF Distagon T* Lens for Nikon F-Mount Cameras:
Shares the same solid engineering that is so characteristic of all Zeiss lenses in the ZF range. Optical performance is stunning, color fidelity under low light conditions is breathtaking. Another delightful feature of this optic is its extreme close-up capabilities that provide stunning macro performance. If you can only afford one lens from the ZF range then you need look no further than the 21mm f2.8 Distagon.

Comments about Zeiss 21mm f/2.8 ZF Distagon T* Lens for Nikon F-Mount Cameras:
I am a fine-art black and white photographer and I have been slowly moving from medium and large format film to digital imaging. I have always been a fanatic about sharpness and depth-of-field and this 21mm lens from C. ZEISS has exceeded my expectations for both those areas, not to mention that the construction and design of the ZEISS lenses represent a superb blending of new technology and a long history of building fine lenses. The detail resolution in the prints that this lens and my Nikon D700 are producing (using an Epson R2880 printer) have an image quality that rivals what I have seen in prints from 2 1/4 and even 4" x 5" negatives. I also believe that these lenses from ZEISS are capable of rendering much more detail than even the Nikon FX CMOS sensor is able to record so as sensor technology continues to improve these lenses will be able to reveal those improvements.
