The Benro A-269M8 Travel Angel Aluminum Tripod with the BH-1 Ballhead is a professional-quality tripod that has lightweight, highest quality aluminum alloy legs for top performance at an economical price. In addition, magnesium is used for all die-cast parts. Despite its lower weight, magnesium is more rigid than aluminum, and has the same strength per volume.
Travel Angel tripods are easy-to-carry so you'll want them with you at all times. Travel Angel's unique 180 degree foldover design allows them to be folded into a compact package that can easily fit into backpacks or luggage. However, when you need quick setup, excellent maximum height and a rigid, stable support, Benro Travel Angels are impressive performers.
Travel Angel tripods feature individual leg angle adjustments, anti-rotation leg design, a reversible center column with spring loaded weight hook, anti dust and moisture rubber leg lock grips.

It took me nearly a year of searching for the right tripod. I was considering a carbon fiber but the weight benefit didn't seem that great in comparison to the size and load carrying capacity (and price). While I typically don't exceed 8 pounds max load, I opted for the A-269M8 because of the height and I like the sturdy feel when fully extended. Even with the legs fully extended, it is rock solid.
Set up and take down is quick. The locks are easy to grip, and lock is sure.
The BH-1 head is a pleasure to use too. I was using a lock only ball head prior and didn't realize how nice a drag control is for fine adjusting. The quick release was a surprise too. I didn't give much though to it but I found that I could use my non-Benro plats with the QR system. It uses a channeled grip to lock in the base. The base uses a turn knob release so that it can be adjusted to fit different size base plats. The base plat that comes with the head has an allen head and a wrench. Fits tight, non slip, and is rather compact.
I did find other tripod units that I liked as much as the A 269M8 but the size and construction was the final factor in the decision. Price was par with the others.

Comments about Benro A-269M8 TRA269 Travel Angel Aluminum Tripod with BH-1 Ballhead:
This tripod is well built and reliable with D90 and a 70-300mm lens. The only con to me is that it is not quite easy to fold and unfold, it is not like quick lock and release, you have to twist fasten each segment of the legs, and that is not quite an easy job at the beginning. However once you get used to that everything should be fine.

Comments about Benro A-269M8 TRA269 Travel Angel Aluminum Tripod with BH-1 Ballhead:
Overjoyed with this tripod in more ways than one. After my $50 SLIK tripod snapped a few weeks ago while holding the Canon EOS 7D & 15-86 USM IS Lens I became very concerned and would not risk $2500 of equipment on a meager stand again. I searched and searched and ultimately was recommended this stand by a Pro photographer. I took this stand out on 10/10/10 for the first time to the jetty in Dana Point, CA. The rocks are jagged and awkward to walk on let alone set up a tripod. With ease I had this set up instantly and with no fear about it tipping over. One of the photos taken was aired on KABC news in Los Angeles. Solid, Rugged and Sturdy. Quick release clamp takes getting use to and not super light weight. Highly recommended over any $100 stand. Why take the risk? It's not worth it. Supports up to 11-12 pounds

Comments about Benro A-269M8 TRA269 Travel Angel Aluminum Tripod with BH-1 Ballhead:
Just as it claims, it is a great little travel tripod. No, it's probably not intended for everyday, heavy duty use, but for travel or occasional use, I would recommend it. As other reviewers have noted, the included ball head is a little on the "light" side (hence the 4-Star rating), but I have used it for a Canon 7D with 70-200L mounted and it was able to grip and hold. Tripod collapses/folds nicely and compactly into its own soft-sided case and fits nicely into luggage. Beautiful construction!

I bought this tripod for a vacation/business trip to California. I needed something portable, but sturdy. That's what I got. Great product. Easy to set up. Smooth ball head. Feels wellmade. It made me feel that it could not only hold my Canon 7D with my 7" Marshall itor attached, but it can handle a Sony Z1U.
I would give this 5 stars if it only had a handle attached to the head. It's a bit challenging trying to pan a DSLR without the handle. All in all - great tripod. I'll probably get a second one soon.

I was thinking of getting manfrotto or slik, however I change my mind when I saw this in a magazine. What catch my attention is that it's able to fold and becomes more compact. It fits perfectly in the hand-on carry luggage.
The weight is great and hold on to my D700 and 24-70mm just fine, which is why I replace my old tripod in the first place. The ballhead is smooth and the quick release is easy to use.

Comments about Benro A-269M8 TRA269 Travel Angel Aluminum Tripod with BH-1 Ballhead:
I have been looking for a solid, yet compact tripod to travel with and I have found it with this one. It is very stable. I do a lot of night photography and this tripod will come in very handy for that. I like the case that came with it and the way the tripod folds to a very compact size. The included ball head and quick-release plate are nice features.
It is, however, rather stiff to unfold and fold, however that may improve with more use.

Comments about Benro A-269M8 TRA269 Travel Angel Aluminum Tripod with BH-1 Ballhead:
I bought this to use as a travel tripod that will easily fit into a suitcase. I use a Nikon D300 with Nikon 80-400mm VR or Nikon 70-200mm VR lens on it, and it does OK. Tripod has enough height yet is compact. There are compromises. The twist locks are stiff and need some breaking in. Tripod does feel fairly heavy too. The 12 leg locks take a little time to set up/break down. Supplied ballhead had cheap feel so I immediately replaced it with my AcraTech. Much better! Summation: folds compactly, reasonably stable, feels heavy, leg locks stiff, long set up time. Would not want it for a daily use tripod at home, have a Gitzo 1325 for that. Will work OK for occasional airline travel.

Comments about Benro A-269M8 TRA269 Travel Angel Aluminum Tripod with BH-1 Ballhead:
I am an aspiring photographer who uses this tripod for studio still life work and will soon use it for landscapes. Its compactness is great for carrying around, yet I still find it is very sturdy for everyday use. It can take a little while to set up, but once set up it is easy to use and is a great product for the price.

Comments about Benro A-269M8 TRA269 Travel Angel Aluminum Tripod with BH-1 Ballhead:
I have a Gitzo 1325 I use as my main tripod, but it's really too long to fit into my suitcases. I bought the Benro for that duty. I have been using it for about two weeks now, including a plane trip to Chicago. Tripod is solid enough to support Nikon D300 + Nikon 80-400mm. It folds down small enough to fit in any of my suitcases. Downsides are the ballhead isn't very substantial. I immediately replaced it with my AcraTech Ultimate ballhead, which works great. Tripod feels quite heavy in my pack. It takes some time to open it up and twist locks are stiff, but are loosening up with use (which is good.) For under $200 compromises had to be made, but it is a compact & solid travel tripod (with AcraTech head.) I will keep and use on upcomming trip to Iceland. At home will use Gitzo 1325.

Comments about Benro A-269M8 TRA269 Travel Angel Aluminum Tripod with BH-1 Ballhead:
I use the A-269M8 mainly for landscape photography and have been very pleased with the product. It compacts into a very small and easy to transport package, and it extends enough to put the camera at or near eye-level, and I'm 6'4". When fully extended the stability is solid...there's still some very slight movement with strong winds, but it works well for long time exposures.

I use this tripod when I travel, which I do quite a lot. The best thing is that I can fold it up and it will fit in my suitcase. The ballhead isn't the best in the world and I've considered upgrading it. On the plus side it is pretty tall, I am 6'2" (188cm) and I have to shorten it to see the top of my camera (Nikon D90). There is a Carbon fiber version as well, but it cost more then twice as much and only saves you about 8 oz.

I just got this a week ago and already fall in love with it. it is very steady and solid for my canon xsi with 17-40mm f/4 L lens. Only one down side of this tripod is it takes a bit muscle to unfold, fold and extend legs. perfect folding size in a cute case with you everywhere without tired feeling.

I had trouble getting all of the extensions to tighten. I just left it extended to the height I wanted and put it in the back seat of the car. I wish it had the flip levers to loosen and tighten instead of twist. Other than that great product.

Comments about Benro A-269M8 TRA269 Travel Angel Aluminum Tripod with BH-1 Ballhead:
With airlines often charging $25 each way to check a second bag (my usual tripod) I was motivated to find one that would support the 5D but still fold down small enough to fit inside my small suitcase. I settled on this Benro and was very pleasantly surprised when it arrived from B&H! The build was much more solid than I had anticipated, the twist locks have nice grippy rubber and require only a small quick motion. it's light, stable and well-designed. The quick-release works well and it has a bubble level. The only reason I haven't awarded five stars is that I'm not sure that there is such a thing as a perfect tripod. For the price and what I bought it for, this little guy closely approaches perfection. [@]
