I like the bag and the room it offers but my bag also came apart at the base where the straps meet the bag. It was an evening project getting a heavy duty needle and thread and repairing it myself. Now that I'm aware of it, I keep and eye on the wear and tear.

Comments about Domke F-2 Backpack (Sand):
I absolutely love this bag! That said, it failed me after only five months. Like the other complaints listed above, my strap let go where it meets the base as well. The bag and all of my gear slammed to the ground. I then noticed that the second strap wasn't far behind. My dilema, do I send it back to Domke or pay to have it repaired locally. I chose the latter and am very happy with the results. Had this not happened, I would have awarded this product (5) stars. I would recommend it to a friend, but with caution.

For long hikes when a shoulder bag is cumbersome. Has more than enough room for all my equipment and extras. Would have liked a tripod holder and a compartment for a laptop.

Comments about Domke F-2 Backpack (Sand):
I had my F2 for three days before the strap sewn into the base on the back of the bag tore out and a few days later the other strap tore out. Fortunately they didn't go at the same time or I might of lost some camera gear. I took the bag to a leather shop and had the straps resewn. We agreed that it was poorly sewn in that area. The rest of the bag is good but the velcro is loud when openning. I carry a couple cameras, three lenses and batteries.

Good quality of workmanship.
Uncomfortable when loaded due to plastic feet/skids on the bottom of the bag moving forward and pokeing into back.

maybe i've got some bad karma floating around, who knows. i got my FIRST f-2 around christmas time. the first day i used it, the left shoulder strap snapped off the base of the bag. [...] i finally got a second one. well, this time it lasted about 4 weeks. after cautiously putting it on one day, SNAP. number two down. this is a [$]back folks, what's the deal?
