I bought this after ruining a braided-metal
covered cable release because it couldn't flex
enough where it had to in order to reach the
socket on a strange camera. For that camera,
I ended up having to buy an L-shaped adapter
just so the bend wouldn't keep ruining my
cable releases. I needn't have bothered --
I could have just bought this cloth-covered
cable release instead.
This cloth-covered release is much more flexible
and it operates more smoothly when tied in a
knot than my old braided-metal one did straight.
And the outer cover isn't always coming off like
it does on the vinyl ones.
I definitely got a pleasant surprise after
thinking I was just ordering yet another cheap
cable release.

Within the first few squeezes (pushes?) of the release button, the cable came sideways through the cloth about halfway down the cord. I NEEDED to take some shots that night so I grabbed some painter's tape I had hanging around and presto...I fixed it. Taped up it worked (and has continued to work). Just concerned about further issues. Despite that issue, the cable release has been fine. To me it was worth the few bucks I spent. I wasn't even upset it broke...now if I had not been able to fix it...that would have been another story.

Nice and flexible, much better than a vinyl covered cable. Fits the shutter release threads on my camera / lens just fine. I'm not real crazy about having to use two hands to set the lock, (one hand holding down the plunger while the other hand tightens the set screw lock), but this method of locking absolutely prevents the cable from going into a locked down mode when you do not want it to.

If you need a good manual cable release for your older camera, this one does the trick. 10" size works well, really haven't seen any vibration on my slides. I recommend this product.

I use this product with my pentax 6x7 any time that I use a tripod. It is very well made, feels solid, and does what it is designed to do. It is flexible and has a screw lock for doing longer bulb exposures. For the price I couldn't ask for better.
Comments about General Brand Cloth Cable Release with Lock - 10":
These are fine. Strangely, after all the years that cable releases have existed, some outfits can make poor cable releases with rough operation!

The description is accurate. The product does what it says it will do. What more is there?

A great cable release, sturdy and functional. And what a surprise, it's made in Germany not China! A great value in my opinion.
