Comments about Buffalo 1TB LinkStation Live LS-CHL Network Hard Drive:
Great network drive. We're using it for media and archiving. I can't say how well it would handle hard use from more of people, but it is great for home use.
I'll probably move it to a UPS and get a USB to do a safety backup
The Buffalo network storage devices are really small computers running a version of linux. There is stuff on the net about how to hack them to get access to the linux system, but I wish Buffalo didn't lock it up. The probably don't want the tech support hassle of users messing up the system, but I would think they could make it an "at your own risk" feature.

Comments about Buffalo 1TB LinkStation Live LS-CHL Network Hard Drive:
After considering just another external USB drive option, I decided to give a NAS device a chance. This Linkstation has everything you want and nothing you don't. Easy installation and setup. The NOVABACKUP software provided with the unit has features you find on Enterprise backups solutions. It comes with a five computer upgrade to the lastest and greatest version as well. Besides being a much "greener" backup solution (auto startup feature using WAKE ON LAN plus low power consumption) this unit has the capability to function as a media server for your wired and wireless devices, including your smart phone when you enable web based access to the unit. Once you fill up the generous 1TB of internal storage, attach your old external USB drive, format it, and bam ! You're upgraded. Highly recommended as an entry level NAS.

For home network. Access from any of 4 computors in home. Makes my HP 1200 laser jet Printer Wireless - awesome. my wife can print receipts, etc., from across the house. (maybe she'll buy me something :)
Has Auto Mode - will on turn on when a PC is on.
Works perfectly, can't comment on longevity, only had a few weeks.
Very easy to set up.
Nothing bad I can say.

Comments about Buffalo 1TB LinkStation Live LS-CHL Network Hard Drive:
I am using this as network storage for two Win 7 PC's (Desktop and Netbook), one Vista laptop and one XP Desktop. I am also doing differential backup to an attached USB drive on a nightly basis. All works fine, but I have been unable to get the Web Access to work. The user guide leaves as lot to the imagination. There are some tutorials on the web that are referenced in the user guide, but they don't have a lot of detailed explanations.
