The 6TB 4big Quadra External Hard Drive RAID Array from LaCie is an external 4-disk array that delivers a fail-safe storage solution. As configured, the array offers an impressive 6TB of storage spread across four drives, all of which are hot swappable.
The array features a quad interface which allows it to be connected via eSATA, FireWire-800, FireWire-400, or USB 2.0. It is capable of burst transfer rates of up to 230MB/sec when connected via eSATA. The array can be configured in a variety of schemata, including RAID 0 and RAID 5. I have only recently purchased this drive, but so far so great. It is keeping up with a rigorous schedule and accesses 4k files easily. It is quiet and nice to look at too!It is a bit heavy if you need to move it from location to location, but the good outweighs the bad for sure.

This is one of the most affordable arrays with RAID 5 capability and is very quiet. Be aware that if it is formatted as RAID 5 the capacity drops to just over 4 gigs because there are only 4 drives in the array.
I had a data corruption issue which mimicked the failure of 2 drives and forced me to reformat the array and lose a lot of data. Tech support was very helpful but hard to reach- the did not answer their phone and took a day to answer email. They did resolve the issue and give helpful follow up afterwards.

I have been using this product for several weeks and have been extremely pleased with the ease of setup, the speed and reliability. It was recognized and installed/cofigured quickly as a GPT drive using Windows XP 64-bit, connected with a LaCie ESATA PCI EXPRESSCARD (also purchased from B&H.) I've digitized over 1TB of DV and will soon be using it for HDV as well.
