The included 18-55mm zoom lens is perfect for wide-angle to medium telephoto photography. Perfect for everything from landscapes to portraits, this lens offers maximum flexibility and value. Also included is the Pentax AF-200FG P-TTL shoe mount flash. This offers both automatic and manual flash functionality for adding the perfect light to any scene.
The camera's Auto Picture and Scene modes offer shooting ease, while advanced modes, such as the new Sensitivity Priority (Sv), allow photographers to grow with the camera. All of these impressive features are controlled by the Pentax PRIME image processing engine, which maximizes image properties and allows custom adjustment of individual image parameters.

- Advanced Shake Reduction Technology
- The Pentax Shake Reduction (SR) System is an electromagnetically controlled stabilizer built into the body to ensure shake-free photos with any lens. Unlike traditional two-way stabilization systems, SR compensates for movement in three directions--horizontal, vertical, and rotational. By detecting handheld camera shake, sharpness is dramatically increased when using telephoto lenses, working under low light conditions or in any instance where unwanted shake may affect a photograph.

- Powered by AA Batteries
- The K2000 is powered by 4x AA Batteries and is fully compatible with single use lithium and alkaline type batteries as well as rechargeable NiMH type batteries. Fresh AA lithium batteries will provide enough power to capture 1650 images (or over 500 images with flash use 50% of the time), and can provide about 700 minutes of playback time. Plus, AA power can be found anywhere in the world, making the K2000 travel friendly.

I purchased this product and immediately used it continuously for two weeks. I've made about 2000 pictures. This camera is always ready for use: you may turn it on and immediately make a shot. The 18-55 mm lens is very convenient for landscapes pictures, distortions at 18 mm are negligible. Battery life is unbelievable, I made all my shots with the same included lithium batteries set.
Minor note: the grip is not very suitable for my hand.

I've been shooting with Pentax SLRs for about 30 years now. When I decided to make the jump to digital SLR and did some research, this camera outfit is the one that most suited my needs. The price was almost unbelievable and I was very pleased knowing that I would still be able to use some of my old Pentax lenses. When the camera finally arrived I wasn't disappointed. With the addition of 4 AA batteries it worked like a charm straight out of the box. The menu was easy to use and answered most questions without me having to reach for the manual. If I came across something I didn't understand, a simple press of the button with the question mark would give me a quick uncomplicated answer. The camera felt good in my hand and the first shots turned out to be wonderful. There is an array of presets that make this a good transitional camera for someone who's used to traditional SLR and wants to get into a more professional grade digital without spending a fortune. This camera also has a fully manual function which is something I enjoy. Although it's probably a bit too complicated for a base line beginner, and not the perfect camera for someone who just wants to take snap-shots, with just a very basic knowledge of digital, almost anyone could pick this camera up and produce decent photos using the easy presets. However, not using the huge array of features this camera has to offer would certainly be a waste. I've shown my K2000d to several of my friends who are professionals and each time I do the same thing happens....I hand them my camera and let them take a few shots, and next thing you know, I have a hard time getting my camera back! I love this camera!

I was amazed at the number of features this Camera has.I have always been a Pentax fan ,and all of my existing Lenses work fine with this camera. It is a true SLR camera,so I can continue to take impressive photographs using my depth of field and time Exposures.
It is lightweight ,comfortable in my hand, and very user friendly. I am pleased, and I have a nice Camera for a very reasonable price.
