The Leica Handgrip M attaches to the digital M models by replacing the normal base plate and is is especially useful when using the high-speed lenses of the digital Leica M system. It makes it easier to hold the camera still even during long shooting sessions, and it's covered with "vulcanite" leather for improved grip - even when ones hands become sweaty.

Comments about Leica Handgrip M (Black):
Digital Leica M cameras with lenses from 24 to 50 can do without a grip, but when you put a 90 or a Noctilux on, it'd really needed.

Comments about Leica Handgrip M (Black):
Having grown up with SLR's sporting handgrips and motor drives, when I added the M8 camera to my bag I looked for a way to give the camera a better balance and a more secure feel. This grip gives it to me. I don't feel it compromises the simple, clean lines of the body, in fact I think it enhances it. It is a bit pricey but compared to all of Leica's other accessories, it's a bargain. I bought mine at the Leica shop in Berlin on vacation so I considered it my souvenir.

Comments about Leica Handgrip M (Black):
This is expensive, but it adds a great deal to the camera handling. It is beautifully finished as well. I find that it adds little to the overall weight, but makes the camera feel lighter.

Comments about Leica Handgrip M (Black):
I got a Leica M8.2. I love the camera but I've being missing a better grip specially for low light photos (not picture stabilization here). With the handgrip my M8.2 have really improved its stability and grip. This was the missing link. I know you might think it is not important at all but it also improved the looks of my M8.2. It is a high quality product that integrates to the M Leica as if the handgrip has always been there. Keep in mind that if you don't take low lights photos you might value the better grip you get in any situation. I will recommend this product. A bit in the expensive side but Leica quality. It fits the M9 too.

Comments about Leica Handgrip M (Black):
This grip makes one-handed use of the M9 much easier and general two handed use very comfortable.
It's downside is expense, but it is built like a tank, and Leica doesn't come cheap.

Should you feel the need to work w/a grip , then buy this item.
The fit & finish is just perfect .
I honestly do not enjoy its looks as it takes away from the clean simple design line of the camera.

Comments about Leica Handgrip M (Black):
Works great. The one I received perfectly matches the texture of the M9. Really makes a difference for those of us who carry our cameras in our hands all the time. Also makes the camera a lot more manageable when using gloves in the winter.
Of course it is priced in the tradition of Leica, but dollar for dollar, it's a much better value than one of their replacement lens caps. :-)

Comments about Leica Handgrip M (Black):
I have big hands and this handgrip is very helpful in allowing me to control the camera position as I
take a lot of "street" photos and don't want to drop
my camera. Very solid construction.

Comments about Leica Handgrip M (Black):
The handgrip makes the Leica feel more solid. It also adds a safety net so that there is little chance of dropping the camera. It is very well made in the Leica tradition. It remains on my camera all the time.
