The battery charger is a significant improvement of the old M8 "Brick Charger". Takes up a lot less space for travelling and has the added beenfit of advising you when an 80% charge has been achieved.

My charger got destroyed during travels in South America... I guess my adapter wasn't a good enough fit so one day it burned the thing. The original M8 charger is a lot bigger so I really appreciate the smaller new size... way more compact.

Great charger; love the 80% feature (when the system can quickly charge the battery to 80%); size is a plus -- great for traveling. Yet, the cost is high - but, what did you expect, it is a Leica. If you don't have the new battery charger, get it.

My large original charger was broken. [...]This is a much smaller charger and it is easier to carry around as compared to the original Leica M8 charger, which is hugh and has a strange shape that was difficult to fit into the camera bags. It also shares the same kind of cable with the Epson Rd-1s charger, and some other camera chargers which means I have fewer things to carry with me on a trip.

This is a great alternative to the massive charger supplied with the M8 and M8.2 cameras. It is much easier to transport. The rapid charging mode is very useful. The only criticism, and perhaps it is just a design limitation, is the need to carry/use a cord that connects the box to an outlet. It would be a truly great product if it could accommodate a built in plug that rotated out for use.

This charger is about 2/3 the size of the original version. It has a cord while the original plugged directly into the wall. It is easier to pack. It also has an 80% light so you can tell when the battery has enough to use even if not full. There was nothing wrong with the original version other than its bulk but this one is very nice.
