Tokina MVH-2D Mini Pan-Tilt Head with Controller
The Tokina MVH-2D by Kenko is a motorized Pan & Tilt unit for video cameras. It offers variable speed pan and tilt movements and can be used in the upright or inverted positions. With an 11 lb load capacity (in upright position), this P/T unit is compatible with most of today's prosumer video cameras.
- Upside Down Operation
- This unit can be used in the upright and horizontal positions or inverted i.e. attached to a ceiling surface. When used in the inverted position, its load capacity is decreased from 11 lbs (5kg) to 6.6 lbs (3kg).
- Battery Operable
- This unit runs on a 12VDC power supply or on 8x AA batteries for up to 2 hours.

Very solid unit, well made from===metal===ohhh!. Very satisfied with the small foot print and weight. Very smooth.
Biggest down side is the noise level of the motor. But what would you expect for this price point. I did a little experiment with a simple hand towel wrap around the unit, which made the noise level acceptable. Thinking of fabricating sound panels the same shape as the unit with velcro.
You would not be able to use the recorded audio from the cam while in use due to the motor noise. Perfect if this a third cam or second angle with little movement. Would not use this during quiet ceremony.
I shoot mostly weddings and can't tell you how many times i framed the second cam and found the shot was just a fraction off, or someone stood in front of the lens. This will take care of that for sure! Maybe the noise will get there attention and move out of the shot.
I would purchase another one for sure, this is a wonderful surprise in regards to quality and price. I have another manufacture's unit; very quiet but on a windy day it moves. I can blow on it and it would move, very shaky. No worries here with this rock solid, compact and strong unit. AX2000 and NX5-U give this unit no challenge to pan or tilt. Control unit is great Too!
Thanks BH Photo for looking out for the videographer on a budget and finding this little jem. If the GRRRRRR was gone, I would be singing praises on every blog page.
Had to reduce to 4 stars for the noise, but what a unit. You won't be disappointed especially for the price

Used remotely on a 26 metre (85') tower with a Nikon D200 camera mounted on it. A good strong and compact unit with quality gearing inside.

This head is the best I've seen on the net, and when I decided to buy it I had problems with finding extension cord. But after talking with product pro at B&H and not finding anything (on the cable and connector,) as it's very special, I bought it and redesigned cable for CAT-5. In my case I had to run 100+ feet of it. It works perfectly.
But not to mention built quality, that's where it earns five stars. All metal not plastic, durable, quality built.
