The Leica D-Lux 4 is a difficult camera to find a snug case that provides ample protection.
The case fits the D-Lux 4 with its lens cover perfectly. However, it's a bit snug when wiggling the camera out of the case.
I would recommend that the lens cover be left on the camera when using this case because the metal snap to securely close the case is in a position such that it can easily make contact with the camera's precious lens - a poor design decision my my opinion.
However, with the lens cover on, the case works perfectly. Although I wouldn't recommend this case if you intend on carrying the camera in rain or other potentially wet conditions - the case is not water resistant and water can easily seep into the clam shell design.
Paired with a spare, non-Leica battery, the combination is an excellent value!

This kit is optional for the Leica D-Lux 3 and 4 cameras. It is an excellent hard case, which can be thrown into a purse or glove box. It is about the same size as a hard case for eye glases. Velcro type closure. This allows you to always have a camera with you. The "kit" comes with a spare battery. I consider it an excellent value if you've gone through the expense of buying the Leica: surely you want to protect the camera in some way.
The camera fits well and snugly inside. It takes very little effort to get at the camera, because the case folds wide open once the velcro closure is released. If you use a neck strap, there's not enough room inside for the camera and the strap. If you use a wrist strap, you can stuff it in there, but it is better if the strap stays outside the case (my opinion only - you might feel differently). If you use neither type of strap, this case will be very good for you. I am using a wrist strap, and still prefer this case to other alternatives. The protection is top-notch, and it is easily carried around.
Negative: there's no space provided for an extra battery and an extra memory card. This doesn't bother me in practical use. Day-in and day-out, there's no need to have either battery or memory card with you. However, I'd like it better if there was provision made to store battery and memory, since then I could have most everything concerning the camera in one place.

Comments about Leica Leather Case for D-Lux 4 & D-Lux 3 Digital Cameras:
Wanted a case to take/use during a camping trip. Everything worked fine except that I wish the belt loop was bigger. I have a 1" belt, and it didn't go through so I put the case on the backpack strap that goes over my stomach. The quality is good considering the price. The camera fits a little loose, but I guess it makes it easier to take out. Overall, I'm satisfied with the purchase.

Should have been a bit bigger to include extra battery; but can't complain given the price and quality. Hope the next one is built in the US, this one was made in China.

Comments about Leica Leather Case for D-Lux 4 & D-Lux 3 Digital Cameras:
The case has very practical usage since you can keep the original Leica strap (longish) while the camera is inside the case - not like original Leica case in which you need to replace the longish strap with the shorter one dangling aside. Also the battery supplied is a plus which is almost identical to the original one. Only minus is the cheapo look which is not big deal I believe.

For the price this is perfect - a case and an extra battery! I bought this for my Panasonic Lumix LX3 and it's super cute and retro looking. I wouldn't have bought an extra battery if it didn't come with the case but it's already saved me a few times. Out of all the cases I looked at this is by far the best one and you use the straps from the camera itself so it's not bulky. And it was a great price.

Great case for the D-Lux 4, I purchased this case for my wife and she loves it. It fits the camera perfect and is slim lined to fit in her purse. It also has a belt loop that is really nice. Plus it comes with an extra battery, great over all value made from quality leather.

I bought a Panasonic LX3, and wanted a carrying case and a back-up battery. This accessory kit does the perfect job. My camera fits nicely into the case, and the battery works great.
The only part I'm slightly disappointed at is the small openings through which camera straps hang. There might have been a better solution than this clumsy joints.
But overall I'm satisfied.

Well made and sturdy leather clam-shell style enclosure with a snap tab at top and belt loop on the back. The camera shoulder strap fits through top slots in the inner quarter inch protective overlap. The extra battery can fit in the front, next to the lens barrel. The interior is lined with a black synthetic velvet. The bottom is well hinged with sewn leather. There are inner side straps to limit the opening. Good value for an anonymous (no logo) Leica quality leather case and battery as compared with other cases.
