I researched this lens extensively and debated between this and the 24-70 f/2.8, however I decided to go with this lens because of the extended focal length and the IS. The build construction of the lens is absolutely top notch (very durable and well manufactured). I was a little apprehensive about purchasing the White Box version. However, the white box version includes everything that the regular version does (it is the exact same lens) but it is cheaper.
I have this lens mounted on a 7D. The photos are amazing. Stepping up from a 28-135 IS USM lens to this blew my mind. You will need to Micro Adjust this lens on a 7D in Custom Function III. I researched this and confirmed it with Canon. I have my setting at minus 7 (-7) ( That means that the lens is back focusing) and the pictures are Tack Sharp and Amazing. This has become my new all purpose walk around lens.
Since it is only an f/4 lens you will need to use flash in low light situations (night, dark situations, when you want fill flash, etc.) I recommend that you use a Speedlite Flash and not your camera's built in flash. Using the Speedlite Flash, I found it to perform well in these situations.
Time to save up for my next L-Series Lens!!!

CONSTRUCTION: The lens is solid as I expected, showing a very good construction.
IMAGE STABILIZATION: The IS is effective, and I could handle shots at really slow shutter speeds, even at 105mm. You hear a little hiss when IS turns on and off.
IMAGE QUALITY: The colors are great, and the images are tack sharp when properly focused.
FOCUS: The focus is quiet and fast, as expected from a USM motor. Unfortunately, my copy of this lens is showing front focus, and I was really dissapointed with this. I tried the lens with two other camera bodies (T1i and 7D), and the same problem is occuring. The focus point is on the edge of the DOF, and the images are a little blurry and soft when using AF. I really expected more quality control on an L glass, and this is really bothering me (I dont think that this is some kind of compatibility problem, because I tried the lens with three different cameras, getting the same results).
However, I must say that the micro adjustment feature of the 7D seems to solve the problem, after taking some time do adjust it. I didn´t had the chance to explore more this 7D feature, and just did some test shots with my friend´s camera, but the Micro focus adjustment seems to calibrate the focus properly.
OVERALL: This is a nice glass. A great focal length, great construction, great colors and easy to handhold. The front focus issue was the only problem (really annoying), but hopefully I will get a 7D and will calibrate it!
I will give three stars because of my front focus experience, but without this problem I would give five stars to this equipment.

If I had to pick one lens to carry on my carmera this would be the one. Yes it is a bit heavy, but if you have L series lens, you know that is the price of the quality glass

Comments about Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM Autofocus Lens (White Box):
There is absolutely nothing wrong with this lens. I had hesitations before buying the lens, it being a white box AND import version however it came brand spanking new. I brought it out from the box and it came with all the accessories. I currently have not taken it off since I first put it on, the camera. The focusing is amazingly smooth. Some cons about it is that it is on the heavy side, after a couple hours of shoot your arm does get tired. The zoom ring could be a little wider and farther from the body. I feel as though it is missing the wide end just a little bit but that's where the 10-22mm comes and and its no problem for my crop frame sensor. Overall impression is that this is an amazing lens with great quality, for those who plan to do videos, I would recommend this lens over the 24-70mm due to IS. Multi functional lens.

I have used this lens as a walk around lens as it is much lighter than the 100-400. I find it does most things well. I would prefer a lens with a F2.8.

This is my first L lens and I am so impressed. It is quick to focus, and easy to zoom. The images that I have taken have been sharp and have great colors. It may come in a plain white box, but there is nothing plain about the Canon EF 24-105 f/4L IS USM Autofocus Lens. I use it on my Canon 60D.

This has been my first choice lens since I purchased it. It hasn't let me down, the only thing that would make it better is if it were 2.8

I have had this lens for about a week and what an upgrade from the 28-135 IS UMS i have. Took me some time to make my mind up with this lens or the 24-70 2.8 but i made the right choice with this lens. Extra reach over the 24-70 is nice and my white box lens is sharp as sharp can get.IS is also a nice feature over the 24-70. I have took about 50 or so pics and i am rather impressed by the quailty and craftmanship of this lens. Would buy this lens in a heart beat again and again.

Comments about Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM Autofocus Lens (White Box):
I'm a professional videographer and editor. I shoot with a Canon 7D and the Ef24-105 f/4L is my go to lens. If I had to choose one lens to bring on location, this would be it. I've also used this lens to shoot the majority of a documentary following a band on tour and through the process of recording. It's a great lens to run and gun with, given the wide focal range 24-105mm and the image stabilization. For interiors at night, the f/4 poses some exposure problems, I had to switch out to a lens that was a bit faster than f/4, but for daylight/twilight, exterior/interior shooting, the exposure range is more than ample. The fact that the lens is weather treated is also a great plus, given that I shot in the snow often, and it is usually snowing or raining when I'm out there. All in all, this lens is practical and durable, good work horse for any shooter.

I switched over from a different canon lens that had a much longer zoom lens, I can say that this lens is so good I don't miss my other lens. The quality and shapness of this lens is amazing. A little pricy but definately worth the money!

Comments about Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM Autofocus Lens (White Box):
I love this lens. I did a lot of research before purchasing this one. Everything I read was positive toward this lens and my experience has been fantastic. I was initially concerned that the lowest f was 4. Ok...so I cannot take pictures in the dark. This has NOT been a limitation...even in very low light conditions. I was also concerned about getting a zoom...thought maybe it would be better to get a fixed lens...so glad I went with this one...the images are fantastic and the versatility is amazing. I use it for both stills and video. Really impressed. Not cheap, but worth it.

Comments about Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM Autofocus Lens (White Box):
Bought this as a video lens for the Mark II, and it works wonderfully in that respect. Considerably lighter (and longer and less expensive) than the 24-70mm f/2.8L, and low light isn't much of an issue for my needs, so this lens made the most sense. Super sharp. Nice focal range, though I contest the "macro" label on the ring. This is also the PERFECT travel lens, so now I can pack lighter and leave behind my primes. Just buy it; you'll love it.

I'm a professional wedding photographer who in the past called my 24-70 my workhorse. I purchased the 24-105 after my 24-70 hit the floor and had to be sent out for repair. I had a wedding the next day and quickly realized that not having some kind of backup for my workhorse was not too bright. I did not want the exact same lens so the 24-105 was to be my backup with some new options. After just one wedding I think this is my new work horse. It's sharp, lighter, and I'll gladly give up a stop of light for the extra 35 mm of zoom.
