Comments about Panasonic TH-65PZ850U VIERA 65" Plasma TV:
I was waiting for the price to drop on this Panasonic flagship plasma. I wasn't disappointed. You won't find the feature set of this plasma in any of the 2009 lines. Looks like highend features were eliminated from 2009 plasmas to get their price in line with the big LCD's. Only a Pioneer Kuro Elite can compete. (for several thousand dollars more)
This 65" monster is in my basement game room. Picture, color, and processing are flawless; even without professional calibration. I haven't hooked it to my network yet, but I plan to utilize the ethernet port for file streaming and VIERA Cast. Panasonic adheres to all standards, so I don't anticipate a problem.
I only have one grip about the TV. It did not include a pedestal mount, since it is obviously intended to be wall mounted. Panasonic does make a pedestal mount (TYST65R2WG). B&H doesn't have them but you can search for them online. Apparantly, I'm not supposed to say where I got mine, but shop them on the different search engines, because I got mine at half the price of everybody else from a reputable online retailer. I would recommend buying the pedestal. Afterall, you have got to have some way to set it up until you get around to mounting it on a wall. At 75 pounds and 65", mounting will be no small task and will require a heavy duty/expensive wall mount. I'm strongly considering having a pro do it for me.
At any rate, buy the pedestal. You may need it some day, and Panasonic will probably stop making them since they are designed specifically and exclusively for this set. You won't regret having it. I just think it should have been included with a TV of this caliber.
Buy one these sets before they are gone. You won't get a better price on a giant plasma with this feature set for a long time.
