up to Kent Falls Park to take some photos. I had
just started shooting when my battery went dead. I never really thought about having a spare battery & I should've made sure that it was fully charged before I started out. This was my first digital camera & for the longest time I still brought my EOS 1N film camera with me, it used double aa batteries & not rechargeables! But the digital bug had bitten me & after awhile I stopped bringing it, I still have it but I don't remember the last time I used it! I figured if & when I upgraded to a newer camera the first thing I'd do is get an extra battery & a spare memory card. When you're out in the field & far from home the last thing you need to do is to damage or fill your memory card & not have a spare & not have a spare battery! I currently use a Canon D40 DSLR & when the Canon Powershot G12 came out I bought one, I know several people that have a G series Powershot & all I hear about it is what a great little camera it is. This is my first digital point 'n shoot & its making a believer out of me!!!I really hate saying it twice about not having spares, but all you need is to have this happen to you once & you'll want to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Used in my Canon G10 camera and charged with the external charger. I've got two of these batteries, one main and one used as a spare. After storing the spare for six months fully charged, it will not charge AT ALL and battery is completely dead. It has probably been charged 10 times at the most. Apparently there is only a 90 day warranty on batteries from Canon. For [$], I'd expect more.

It's light, holds a charge well, and works well in lower temperatures. I had bought this as a second battery and an aftermarket battery as a third. Given the price premium for the Canon battery it is well worth it for a back-up.

Perfectly holds a charge and lasts forever. Don't be fooled by knockoffs and cheaper versions those don't last and will wind up costing you that perfect picture in the end. Stick with the Canon battery! I've had mine for three years and have had no problems. Worth every penny.

I use this battery to power my Canon Powershot SX30-IS. The Canon battery lasts longer--more images--than the off brand battery. Also, this battery ejects smoothly from the battery compartment.--The off brand battery binds and does not eject. The Canon battery is worth the price.
