This lens can be used on either the Canon G10 or G11 digital cameras. I own the G11, having moved up from the G3 which I had acquired about 7.5 years ago. The G11 has a 5x physical zoom and a total 20 times combine physical/digital zoom capability, so this teleconverter adapter changes the zoom range to 7x physical zoom up to 28 times physical/digital zoom.
As with all Canon products, this lens adapter is flawlessly made and is easy to install on the camera. One important note, you must also purchase the lens adapter accessory in order to attach this lens to the camera body. After attaching the teleconverter lens to the adapter they both fit into the lens pouch supplied by Canon, so you do not have to separate them to store each one.
I would have preferred that this teleconverter lens had a higher range than 1.4, say 1.75 or higher.

I purchased the lens and adaptor and have tried the unit on my Canon G10.I immediately noticed that the fit leaves the lens a little bit loose in that after it snaps into place, there is some "give" and it will move slightly. I lack the sophisticated optical measurement equipment to tell if this shifts focal length enough when shooting to cause aberrations in the image. Comparison tests with and without lens show no effect from this (for a Canon product) poor fit.The 1.4x gain in magnification seems not worth the trouble to carry this lens converter around with me. It has no visible effect on Bokeh when shooting flowers and the like. Comparing the use of this lens to the equivalent in using the digital magnification already present in the camera, I could see no discernible difference in such things as lettering or edges shot from a distance. Example: With camera lens at 5X optical zoom, you only get to 7X by using this converter. If you use the 7X in camera digital capability, the results seem the same.I did note one benefit when using the adaptor along. The 58mm threads on the adaptor allow me to install a polarizer filter. I just have to be careful not to fully extend the lens or it will crash into the filter, but only at full extension. Most of my polarizer shots are landscapes so this does not represent a problem to me. Very nice to have polarizer capability with this camera. But, design-wise, Canon should have a added another 2mm to the length of the adaptor to avoid interference with the lens.Overall, I have to give this product set a "3" and am getting close to making it a "2". All plastic housings and threads. Below Canon standards on other products. 1.4x not worth the money.[...]

Comments about Canon TC-DC58D 58mm 1.4x Teleconverter Lens for PowerShot G10 Digital Cameras:
I found this product did not add more than marginal advantage as a telephoto extender for the G12. The quality was fine, but it was only slightly more telephoto than the built in lens.
Maybe it was more useful on the G10.

I wanted this converter to add a bit extra focal length to my new G12. It does this very well. Yes, I would have preferred a bit more magnification but the quality is great. It comes with a bag which is big enough for the adapter as well.

Comments about Canon TC-DC58D 58mm 1.4x Teleconverter Lens for PowerShot G10 Digital Cameras:
Traveling through South America, I often found myself wanting a little more reach than my Canon G12 permitted. This teleconverter is, however, not optimal if trying to capture wildlife from afar. In addition, its adapter is fairly bulky, something I would have wished were smaller.

Raises the optical telephoto from 5X to 7X for Canon G10/11/12. A marginal increase and a 1.7 or 2.0 X would be better

Although the teleconverter lens fits perfectly, not of much help for zooming as it is just 1.4x. You'll have to detach it for close ups, otherwise you get a dark circle around the image. OK for occasional use.

Comments about Canon TC-DC58D 58mm 1.4x Teleconverter Lens for PowerShot G10 Digital Cameras:
I was surprisingly impressed by the TC-DC58D 58mm 1.4x Teleconverter Lens when using my Cannon G11 camera. I knew it was only a minor instrument compared to my larger format Cannon and Nikon cameras but decided to try it anyway. Since I have been using the G11 for casual shooting and travel I have realized how great a camera it is. The lightweight TC-DC58D 58mm 1.4x Teleconverter Lens only adds to the opportunity this amazing small camera gives the advanced amateur.

Comments about Canon TC-DC58D 58mm 1.4x Teleconverter Lens for PowerShot G10 Digital Cameras:
I used this Teleconverter to gain a slight increase in optical zoom from 5x to
7x optical. I found it helped me get good photos in a range of distance where 5 x simply was not dong the job for me. I have yet to evaluate the light gathering capability of this converter and whether it makes an improvement in the image. My goal is to be able to take the Canon G10 on travel and leave my larger DSLR home when I am going to places that will not require taking photos of distant wildlife or sports events. More for shoots in the city or at distances up to 200 yards. I wish this were a 2x to gain me a 10x optical zoom. But, while I was torn between keeping and returning this lens, I decided to give it a good try on my next trip. I like the 58mm threads on the adaptor because it enables use of a polarizer filter and GND filters on the Canon G10 making the camera more versatile.
I have not been able to achieve a macro shot of flower or birds with good bokeh. That is something this lens seems not able to do, but I'll keep trying.

Great lens quality which adds to the portrait and long range capabilities of my Canon G10. The digital tele features of the camera also work well with the teleconverter in place, resulting in some very long lens results. This plus the 14.7 mgp's of the camera still produces exceptional quality prints.

Comments about Canon TC-DC58D 58mm 1.4x Teleconverter Lens for PowerShot G10 Digital Cameras:
There is good quality optics and the tele certainly improves the zoom range, but the 1.4x does not offer much over the installed camera zoom. I would have preferred a 2.0X or greater lens. But I have no regrets using the extra capability this tele provides.
