This was bought as a replacement for the original battery, which completely died about a year or so after I purchased the laptop (after a long decline in usefulness).
So far (after a few days) the difference in battery life is astounding, but it remains to be seen how long this will last.

As a previous reviewer said this is not the high capacity battery, however it is a suitable replacement. Lithium ion batteries start losing battery capacity from the day the factory manufactures them.
My battery came delivered to me and its manufacture date was 65 days prior to my purchase. HP battery check said it had 94% capacity. Making adjustments on the computer it currently lasts me 2 hours 36 minutes before reaching 20% charge left. So it can last longer but I never let my batteries completely discharge.
***Never completely discharge lithium batteries causing the computer to shut down unless your refreshing the battery meter on the computer. It stress's the battery shortening its life.

Stealing from Spiderman's motto: "With great power, comes great power consumption". The more powerful laptops can drain a stock battery in an hour or maybe less. This battery doesn't stand much of a chance. There is a higher capacity battery available rated at 7800mAh (vs this one approx 4800 mAh at 72 Watt Hours. Anybody besides me wish we could get more and charge these externally for those times between access to AC or Cigarette Lighter power?
