The Deluxe Webcam from Hewlett-Packard is a breathtaking example of industrial design. The 1.3MP webcam features an autofocus lens and 30fps video capture. It can capture interpolated stills at 8MP resolution.
The camera features tilt and pan adjustment, allowing you to position it as you see fit. It attaches to a computer monitor with a flexible clip-stand, and is compatible with popular instant messaging applications.

I SKYPE on phone to my friend Hong Yi in China! She always says picture is clear and microphone "sound is perfect"! I call my son at University Ca. Santa Cruz, and my friend Don in Anaheim. The clip doen't hold tight but it sits next to monitor and works fine.

This webcam was exactly what we were looking for --- a basic, decent quality standard definition webcam for Skyping with family. Sure, HD video quality would be great, but you get what you pay for, and we weren't interested in spending fifty or more dollars for HD.
As far as image quality goes, it's adequate and reasonable for a standard def webcam. It gets pretty grainy when we make the image fullscreen on our 42" 1080p TV, but that would be the case for any standard def webcam. Using a program like Skype gives you plenty of image adjustment options for color, contrast, etc., so you can dial in a nice image for your environment (backlit, bright room, dark room, etc). I didn't even install the HP software. It's plug and play with a program like Skype, and I didn't need any HP software bloating my PC.
In short, I'd recommend this webcam if you're looking for a reasonably priced, standard def camera for Skyping and the like.

I never used a webcam before. When I received the HP Deluxe Webcam in the mail, I signed up for Skype. I still hadn't used the camera a day later when my brother sent me a message to Skype with him. I quick grabbed the camera out of the package and plugged it in the USB port...and it worked perfectly! I did not read a manual, I just plugged it in and hooked it on the top of my laptop. VERY user friendly!

The HP Deluxe Webcam is made just for getting you closer to your loved ones. You can now see, talk and enjoy being with your friends and family using this wonderful product.
This one is a intelligent webcam which recognizes and tracks your face's - gives the feel as if you are really seeing the person in person!(requires installation of the accompanying software). The webcam has an integrated microphone in case your desktop/laptop does not have one.
The software accompanying the webcam is good and can help you in being creative and refreshingly different!
Only one thing is less than satisfactory in the webcam - the clip for attaching it to the laptop display is not that secure. This was designed with desktop LCD displays in mind - although works for laptops as well.

Make no mistake. This is a quality product at a great price. I bought 2 of these: one for my daughter and one for myself. It was a complete plug-and-play installation with Windows 7. I didn't even use the disk that came with it as everything worked including the mic after plugging in the USB cable.
My daughter had the same experience and we were up and running on Skype in just a few minutes and I was able to see my new grandson! Picture quality is great. You do have to make sure and point the camera at the center of what you are trying to see. My daughter had it pointed a little high and so it focused on a light in the background and darkened the foreground to compensate so I could hardly see her. Pointing the camera a bit down totally fixed this.

For the price, you really can't beat this webcam.
For video chats, it has excellent rendering-- sharp, clear and good color matching. The microphone is very well tuned as well.
And it works with Mac! - with iChat and Skype.
