The Panasonic PT-AE3000U uses a fully HD-optimized lens unit comprising 16 elements in 12 groups to produce images that are distortion free and stunningly beautiful. The lens is the heart of the system but only part of what creates those beautiful images. A fifth generation dynamic iris analyzes every image to create the exact level of light required. And it saves power too.
Of course the PT-AE3000U does 3:2 pulldown and is 24p compatible to put motion pictures in their best light. Action scenes are smoother with fewer motion artifacts thanks to the double speed (100 Hz or 120 Hz) refresh rate. The projector interpolates new frames based on the action in the existing adjacent frames.
However, this projector can be used for more than watching Blu-ray Discs and DVDs or playing video games. No matter where in the world you are, chances are you can feed the PT-AE3000U a television signal it can digest. (You'll need a separate TV set or tuner.) This projector is compatible with NTSC, NTSC 4.43, PAL, PAL-M, PAL-N, PAL 60 and SECAM. If you switch between watching movies and TV often you'll appreciate the Lens Memory feature. It can recall the settings for watching a DVD of a TV show in the 4:3 ratio and the 2.35 ratio of a widescreen Blu-ray Disc.

Comments about Panasonic PT-AE3000U 1600 ANSI Lumens HD LCD Projector:
Got one of these, but I really didn't know much about them at first. I wanted to buy a huge HDTV cause I love watching sports and playing PS3. Well, I went into [...] to buy a Mitsubishi 82in DLP. The cost of that tv was about $4500 plus an extra $1000 for a stand. I had the money to spend though. Then, the guy there took me in the theater room and showed me a Mitsubishi HC6500 on a 92in Projector Screen. It looked amazing and the quality was better when we compared the two, the DLP TV had nothing on the projector. Then, I went home and did some research and found that the Panasonic AE3000 was a better projector and I got an amazing deal on it with a 106 in screen. The total price came out to $2500 compared to $5500 for the 82in DLP and stand. So I bought theater seats with the money I saved. The projector setting was almost perfect, no adjustments really needed to be made. Blu Rays looked great, and the 1080P PS3 games are amazing. NBA 2K10 looks so amazing on a 106in screen and the game is in 1080P. I watched the Dark Knight and the new Wolverine movie on the projector as soon as it came and I thought I was on the movie set it looked so live. Sunday football puts you in the stadium and NBA games makes it feel like you are courtside. With my new theater seats, I am sitting in the luxury box. Why buy a 60in for $2500 when you can get a movie theater in your home for the same price.

Comments about Panasonic PT-AE3000U 1600 ANSI Lumens HD LCD Projector:
After retiring an entry level HD projector, this was a very nice step up. I personally wanted to find a feature rich 1080P projector under $3000 and this fit the bill nicely. Out of the box, it was easy to set up. I currently have it mounted on the ceiling, projecting on a 120" screen. I've only had this projector for about a month but so far it has exceeded all of my expectations. As with any projector, expect to do some tweaking to the picture setting. A PS3, cable box, Apple TV and a Wii are currently routed to an A/V receiver. From there, a single HDMI out from the receiver is fed into the projector. All of the components mentioned look visually stunning through the projector. Would highly recommend.

I looked at almost every projector that is comparable to this Panasonic. I spent nearly 2 months researching every bit. I finally decided on the PT-AE3000 and I wouldn't go back in a second this is a fantastic projector right out of the box

Comments about Panasonic PT-AE3000U 1600 ANSI Lumens HD LCD Projector:
Recently upgraded from Panasonic AE900, which I was very happy with. Sharp image from BD30 Bluray player (primary source), but SD DVD image quality is also very good. The image quality in Normal mode is more than bright enough and colors are excellent out of the box. I'm projecting on a 90" diag. screen and am contemplating going a bit larger and switching to a 2.35:1 AR to take advantage of the Lens Memory feature (which is an excellent bonus). The Frame Creation feature works nicely in Mode 1 on Bluray movies ... which seems to have Epson beat, based on reviews I have read (not from first-hand experience unfortunately). Finally, the uniformity/convergence is pretty solid, with slight imperfections that are completely unnoticeable with program material.
The only drawback might be that although black levels are excellent, it still seems like there could be a bit more improvement in this area. But I'm splitting hairs to be honest ... this was a great unregrettable purchase that blows my previous projector away. The true litmus test was the wife's opinion ... she immediately noticed the difference and her first word was "WOW!".
IF you are thinking about pulling the trigger on this one, and if you have a Bluray player/Playstation, I would highly recommend the AE3000.

Comments about Panasonic PT-AE3000U 1600 ANSI Lumens HD LCD Projector:
We need a projector (for our Discovery Dome digital planetariums - really these are portable digital theaters since we show fulldome movies) that has high brightness, great contrast, good color, and is easy to use. I also need one that you can use without a remote control (our operators lose them). This one fits the bill nicely. It runs quietly, has enough brightness to fill a 6m diameter dome, cools off quickly, and does not put out a lot of waste heat like others do.

Comments about Panasonic PT-AE3000U 1600 ANSI Lumens HD LCD Projector:
My Panasonic AE3000U projector is complemented with a new Onkyo TX-SR806 receiver, 110” dragonfly screen, Wii, PSP3 for Blu-Ray, TWC, Omega Universal remote (and yes, Connections Home Theater made this compatible with PSP3 using the Nyko IR controller), and 7.1 surround Proficient speakers.
I was extremely careful to purchase what I believed was the BEST quality for the money in every aspect. Right now, the professional installation from Connection Home Theater has truly exceeded my expectations.
My room is a hybrid theater room. We utilize it for movies, games, and high quality TV programming (i.e. Virginia Tech, 24, American Idol, Fringe). The Panasonic projector is astounding with exceptional color depth and ease of use. Yep. You are correct if you believe the darker the room the better the image quality; but for basic programming, we keep the room illuminated with two table lamps and do not sacrifice too much clarity.
I cannot speak for long term reliability as my family has only used the projector for several weeks. We are trying to prevent the repetitive on and off that we hear plagues any projector’s bulb life expectancy. So for now, we STRONGLY recommend this being a major contender in your purchase decision.
p.s. My kids love Polar Express on Blu-Ray in 3D. Pretty cool stuff…

Comments about Panasonic PT-AE3000U 1600 ANSI Lumens HD LCD Projector:
I ceiling mounted it in a completely light controlled room. Single 25' HDMI cable to projector using 100" Elite 16:9 Matte white screen. Surround sound system is Onkyo TXNR906 & M&K subwoofer.
First movie was a bluray "The Dark Night". The very first scenes I found myself catching my breath!! (this was out of the box settings). Approximately three weeks later every program viewed is an "experience" to your senses. The picture does not disappoint. It is sharp, accurate & huge!! If you are looking for a projector the PT-AE3000U should be given serious consideration! Highly reccommended!
