I've tried other brand transmitters, and returned them all. Living in NYC where there are few available FM frequencies, I reluctantly purchased the iTrip as a last resort and was plesantly surprised. It is a no brainer to set up, in one minute it completed the scan and I was listening to my iPod in static free sterio. One note however, save the instructions for how to rescan in the glovebox for out of town roadtrips.

I use this for an older ipod as well as for an iphone 3G. A common question I came across when researching products like this online was "will this work with an iphone"? Yes, it will. However, be aware that the phone will ask if you want it to go into "Airplane Mode". Selecting "no" will allow it to play mp3s as well as stream media from popular apps but phone ringtones, text tones and anything else that normally plays through the phone's speakers will also come through the car speakers. Selecting "yes" will allow mp3 play only but will prevent phone tones from being audible. There may be some other features available on the Griffin models designed specifically for the iphone 3G. Check them out.

The set up is easy enough. Follow the instructions, they're almost fool proof. I would suggest following the set up for DX mode. This seems to help the transmission to the radio. The auto tune feature works pretty good but I ended up choosing a station it didn't select under that mode. The cord is generous, the plugs seem durable and fit both the lighter and ipods well.

As with all FM transmitters the signal is less than perfect to your radio. Expect less than CD quality sound and the occasional volume fade depending on the surroundings. I do wish it had more transmitting power. Maybe there's a mod for it like there was for the old Monster transmitter.

In summary- it's a decent product. It isn't something I would discourage anyone from buying. I considered returning it for the pricier Griffin model designed for the iphone. For the cost difference, it doesn't seem worth while at this point. Also- this was my first purchase from B&H. I'm satisfied with their service as well.

Easy to use and small to stow when not in use. Allows me to use a splitter to run a second device in the car at the same time unlike the transmitters with the channel controls on the plug itself.

This thing is great! It works fantastic and is super easy to use. I haven't had any problems using the digital tuner and I live in a very rural area of VA where we don't get many radio stations at all. I was hesitant... but I have had no issues. Great to have for your car!

Easy to use, found the frequency quickly.
On the down side, as I drove closer to NYC it kept losing signal as bandwidth became more crowded, had to retune 3 times. Not sure if that happens all such products ?

This is a good product that offers excellent sound in the car. It is easy to use and very intuitive. Just be aware that it does not work so well in a built up urban area as there are manyFM transmissions and it can be hard to find a free frequency without interference.

I bought this so I could leave my CD carrier behind and enjoy my iPod music collection on frequent road trips. It works as advertised but scanning for available FM frequencies is a bit problematic. I'm not sure my setup is perfect -- only had it for a few weeks -- but it seems to cut out more often than it should, probably due to frequency conflicts with local stations. When it's working though, the sound quality is great, and I love having 10 GB of music to choose from.

I use this with my 4th gen nano and it works great. It is very easy to use and no hassle to learn how to use. It is hard to find a clear signal but I do live in the city so I was expecting this. But the auto search makes it easy to switch between stations.

After reading several positive reviews I thougt this would be the best device for me. Unfortunately the reception was really bad. The smart scan option would select station that was clear but the sound quality of my iPhone was poor. No bass, and it sounded muffled. I also have Sirius radio in my car that works with a fm transmitter and the sound quality is just like a cd. This transmitter was not the same. Maybe it's just not compatible with my car (2000 jeep grand Cherokee). I just ordered the monster cassette adapter. Hopefully that will work better.

The transmitter/charger works with the iPod touch 2G just fine, but even in the desert we had some trouble finding clear stations on a recent road trip. What's required is patience to find a current frequency that has the best reception from the transmitter and no background noise.
