A video decoder is exactly the opposite of a video encoder (server). Instead of encoding data, it decodes a digital video stream coming from a network cable into an analog video signal so that it can be viewed or recorded using conventional analog video equipment. The ACTi ACD-3100 is a single channel video decoder that supports full D1 resolution at 30 FPS. It also offers 2-way audio as well as alarm I/O ports. When used together with an encoder, it will allow video signals originating from analog devices to be sent and received over long distances via a network.
