While other ACTi cameras offer selectable compression options, the ACTi CAM-5321N focuses on providing you with the best MPEG-4 technology has to offer. It is also one of a handful of network cameras equipped with separate LAN and WAN connectors. The advantage of this type of configuration will reveal itself in smoother data distribution and in superior network security.

- MPEG-4 ASP Compression
- More than the run-of-the-mill MPEG-4 codec, the MPEG-4 ASP (Advanced Simple Profile) compression format has a more efficient way of handling Web pages, resulting in a smoother transition of data from your camera to wherever it needs to land on the network. More importantly, it provides the conduit your camera needs in order to generate 30 FPS at full D1 resolution.
- Separate LAN & WAN Ports
- Keeping data safe from illicit users and network infiltrators is a primary concern in a network security environment. A dedicated LAN port provides the best method for isolating sensitive data and preventing it from leaking out to the World Wide Web. This camera also employs QoS (Quality of Service, IEEE 802.1Q) and fail-over network technology to efficiently manage network bandwidth and to increase network security.
- Optimized for Day & Night Surveillance
- When night falls and you go to sleep, your camera stays wide awake. Actually it has a number of electronic controls keeping it from nodding off. These include a true Day/Night function, advanced AGC, as well as an auto iris control.
- High Resolution Analog Output
- While analog connectors can be found on other network cameras, they are usually of an inferior quality, and their primary function is to aid in installation and servicing. This camera, on the other hand, boasts a 480 lines high resolution analog output, making this a true hybrid network/analog camera.
- PoE (Power over Ethernet)
- With the addition of a PoE injector, you will be able to power the camera via the same Ethernet cable used to communicate data to the camera. This will make it easy to install the camera near ceilings, in hallways, elevators, outdoors (with appropriate housing) and similar areas where running electrical wiring is inconvenient, too costly, or simply unsightly.
