Sony 17-in-1 Internal Memory Card Reader/Writer
The Sony 17-in-1 Internal Memory Card Reader/Writer lets you turn your obsolete 3.5" floppy bay into a memory card reader/writer. It can read and write to 17 popular memory card formats including Memory Stick/Duo/Pro/Micro, SD, MiniSD, xD-Picture, Compact Flash (types I & II), MicroDrive, MultiMediaCard, RS-MMC and SmartMedia cards. It is compatible with Windows desktop PCs and enables you to access memory cards used in electronic devices such as digital cameras, mobile phones, camcorders, MP3 players and digital picture frames. This reader/writer connects to your PC via an internal USB connection for easy plug-n-Play installation, and adds a standard USB port on the front panel. Plus the included black and ivory colored faceplates allow you to match the reader to the casing color of your PC.

This is a solidly made product.
Everything worked right off the bat.
My only gripe is that it doesn't come with a 3.5 to 5.25 inch adapter bracket. I just built a new desktop and the case does not have a 3.5" bay. Maybe other cases do. I had to spend another $25 for an adapter bracket.

I use this to transfer 720P 60FPS HD and 1080P HD video from an 8 GB SDHC to my computer. I am happy with the transfer rate of 1.92 GB in 60 seconds or less. I also use it to transfer RAW (.ORF) and JPEG images from my Olympus xD card - 38 files (483 MB) in 60 seconds to my computer. B&H shipped it very quickly, I plugged it in and it worked immediately with no issues at all.
EXCELLENT product and value!
My only regret is not ordering, at the same time, an adapter with face plate for it. But it works just fine sitting in an open slot on top of my CD Reader/Writer (Adapter is on its way).

I have had problems with internal card readers in the past. They are notoriously fickle. This Sony card reader was recognized by Windows 7 64bit immediately and drivers were installed. It seems faster than my last one (Rosewill) and I have had no issues at all. I would definitely recommend.

It saves me time -- I take a lot of photos and digital video clips. It used to take me hours to move gigabytes of files from sd card through usb cables. Now it takes minutes.It saves me space -- I used to have all kinds of card readers sitting on my desk. They're all gone now.Time and space. That's my universe. I'm happy with my [$] well spent.

Easy to install. Recognized in Windows 7 x64 without a hitch. I use it for the compact flash and usb most of the time. So far those have worked properly. Only improvement I would want is a slightly longer cable inside. If you have a full tower case it can be a bit tight.

I use this product to read memory cards from various devices. The extra USB port is very convenient as well. However, it is unable to reader newer, high capacity SD cards. I have read a few reviews that mention some Sony custom icon software and was wondering if a link could be provided?

I spent half a day looking at card drives and reading reviews at a number of sites. My selection criteria were simple:
a) no annoying light that always stays on
b) cards go in right side up
Of the 40 or so drives I looked at, about half failed to meet these two criteria.
I had other criteria:
c) uncluttered face - I don't need 3 extra USB ports, mic and headphone jack, eSATA or Firewire ports etc as my computer already has enough
d) no floppy drive combo'd in
The Sony MRW620 met all criteria, is esthetically pleasing and, importantly, works flawlessly. The MRW620 replaced another drive that had been giving me lots of trouble.
Last but not least, excellent service by B&H Photo.

I really love this card reader. Not only does it fit flush with the case when installed in a floppy bay, but it also doesn't have any lights on unless there is a card plugged in. This reader transfers files very quickly to and from all types of cards. I have only tried CF and SD cards, but I'd assume that the rest work just as well.
My only problem with this card reader is that it does not come with any drive bay adapters for converting a full size bay to a floppy bay. Thankfully, I was able to find some, else I would have had to order some. Keep this in mind when ordering.

Have been looking for a while to find a reader that did not have negative reviews. The rosewill,antec etc ones all have very negative reviews on other sites.
I trust Sony products and this one was very well done. I put it in my build and it booted right up and worked flawlessly. Very fast data transfer from my UDMA CF card. Downloaded the Sony Custome drive software and it now has cool icons.

SONY makes good stuff. This reader worked right off the bat, first try. No set up. Truly Plug-N-Play. Much better quality than another multi-reader that I tried. Cards go in easily and out again the same way. The USB port up front is very handy. I liked this reader because it reads both the newer formats and my old Smartmedia cards. If this reader handles your cards, buy it. Oh, yeah... it's also inexpensive! Great service (fast ship) from B&H.
